The death toll from the clashes in Tripoli rose to six on Monday and the fighting intensified in the evening despite a reported army plan to impose a ceasefire.

"The fighting frontiers in Tripoli are witnessing fierce clashes and the sounds of RPG explosions are echoing heavily in the city, while army units are continuing to respond to the sources of fire," state-run National News Agency reported.

Clashes continued Sunday in the northern city of Tripoli, raising the casualty toll to at least one dead and 24 injured in two days of fighting.

“Abir al-Kayyal has died of wounds she incurred in the ongoing clashes between Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen,” state-run National News Agency reported in the evening.

Clashes renewed on Saturday evening on several fighting frontiers in the northern city of Tripoli, as heavy sniper activity was recorded in the region.

“Fighting is taking place in al-Maloula, Baal al-Darawish, Satarco, Talaat al-Omari, the surroundings of al-Nasiri mosque, Souq al-Qameh, Hara Barranieh, the Hariri Project, al-Baqqar and al-Amercan in the city,” the state-run National News Agency detailed.

The intensity of the fighting between the rival neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen in the northern city of Tripoli subsided on Saturday morning.

Sniper activity along the international highway in the Tabbaneh and Abou Ali roundabout persisted however.

Fierce clashes erupted in the northern city of Tripoli on Friday afternoon following the death of a Jabal Mohsen resident by gunfire.

"Sounds of gunfire shots were heard in Tripoli as sniper activity was recorded between (the city's neighborhoods of) Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh,” the state-run National News Agency reported.

A clash broke out on Friday between the army and gunmen in the neighborhood of Bab al-Tabbaneh in the northern city of Tripoli.

"At 12:00 p.m., gunmen fired an Energa-type rocket and gunshots at an army military vehicle in the Tripoli area of al-Mallouleh, which left three soldiers lightly injured," an army statement said.

A pregnant woman was beaten by her husband, her brother-in-law and mother-in-law overnight on Thursday for allegedly losing the water bill.

Media reports said on Friday that Fatima al-Nashar might lose her baby after her husband Sultan Kas-ha, his brother Othman and their mother Naeima brutally hit her.

Unknown assailants opened fire at two trucks on the Abu Ali roundabout in the northern city of Tripoli on Thursday, accidentally wounding a girl.

The state-run National News Agency noted that the trucks carried Syrian license plates.

Arab Democratic Party leader former MP Ali Eid failed on Thursday to attend a hearing on the August twin bombings in the northern city of Tripoli for medical reasons, reported the National News Agency.

His lawyer, Hiyam Eid, submitted a medical report to First Military Investigation Judge Riyad Abu Ghida excusing him from the hearing.

Unknown assailants on Wednesday took off the door of a mosque affiliated with Sheikh Hashem Minkara in the northern city of Tripoli.

“A group of young men took off the door of al-Soufiah mosque in Tripoli,” LBCI television detailed.
