ATP Cancels Tournament in Israel amid Conflict

The ATP tour on Monday canceled the inaugural Israel Open that was set to be played next month in Tel Aviv because of security concerns "arising from the military conflict in the region."

The tournament was set to be held September 15-21 and would have been the first ATP tournament held in Israel since 1996.

SpaceX to Build Rocket Launch Site in South Texas

SpaceX will build the world's first commercial site for orbital rocket launches in the southernmost tip of Texas.

The state of Texas added $15.3 million in incentives to the geographic value of a location east of Brownsville that will allow SpaceX to have greater control over the timing of its launches. The company has said it plans to launch 12 rockets a year from the Boca Chica Beach, a short walk from the Gulf of Mexico and just a couple miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Xiaomi Beats Samsung in Chinese Smartphone Market

Xiaomi, a Chinese handset maker little known in the West, overtook tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. to become China's top-selling smartphone brand in the second quarter, a market research company said Tuesday.

According to Canalys, Xiaomi sold 15 million smartphones in China during the second quarter, more than a three-fold surge from a year earlier. It surpassed Samsung, which had the leading position in China for more than two years, as well as local brands such as Lenovo and Huawei.
