Lincoln's Handwriting Found on Book about Race

For years, librarians at a small central Illinois library gossiped that a tattered book lying on one of its shelves justifying racism may have been in the hands of none other than Abraham Lincoln, the Great Emancipator.

On Tuesday, state historians confirmed that theory by announcing Lincoln's handwriting had been found inside the cover of the 700-page text, at the same time taking great pains to offer reassurance that the former president who ended slavery in the U.S. didn't subscribe to the theories at hand, but likely read the book to better educate himself about his opponents' line of thinking.

StubHub Music App Takes on Live Nation in Concerts

StubHub, the ticket reselling subsidiary of eBay Inc., is launching its StubHub Music app nationwide as it goes after core music fans in a challenge to Live Nation in the concert business.

The app, which launched in San Francisco in June, expanded to major cities nationwide Tuesday. The app — currently only for Apple iPhones — scans your music library and recommends upcoming shows by your favorite artists or similar ones. A radius dial allows you to set how far you're willing to travel to see a show, up to 150 miles.

Corinne Diacre became the first woman to coach a men's professional football team in a competitive match in France on Monday, but saw her Clermont side lose 2-1 at Brest in the second division.

Diacre's managerial stint in men's football got off to a perfect start when Souleymane Sawadogo finished off a counterattack in the ninth minute, prompting only a small smile from his coach in celebration. German Court Ends Ecclestone Bribery Trial

A German court on Tuesday dropped the bribery case against Bernie Ecclestone after the Formula One chief agreed to make a $100 million payment, ending a trial that lasted more than three months.

The Munich state court announced its decision to drop proceedings against the 83-year-old Ecclestone hours after prosecutors agreed to the move. Ecclestone is now free to concentrate on running the global racing series.
