Geagea: We are Waging Koura By-Election to Win it

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stressed on Thursday the political significance of Sunday’s Koura by-election, urging voters to “listen to their conscience.”

He said before an LF delegation: “We are waging the battle to win it due to its political and humanitarian importance.”

“The Koura of Charles Malek, the only individual in the region who helped draft the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, cannot be transformed to the Koura of (Syrian President) Bashar Assad, who is slaughtering his own people,” he added.

Addressing the recent Syrian shelling of Lebanese border regions in Akkar, Geagea questioned the government’s silence over the matter.

“Don’t these attacks violate national sovereignty? What is the government’s position on the issue?” he wondered.

“Why is it ignoring these developments?” he asked,

By-elections are set to take place on Sunday to fill in the parliamentary seat left vacant after the death of MP Farid Habib.

The election will be waged between SSNP candidate Walid Azar and LF candidate Fadi Karam.

Fadi Karam will win since we will not vote for a Syrian thug

You are half Syrian, my friend. Go ask your mother (but keep it between both of you, if you know what I mean).

Hmmmm... I suppose you are referring to the respected doctor who is running for election? As opposed to the other doctor who is a thug and never made it through medical school. I think you are very very confused; maybe you should see a doctor about your problem.

The term “Syrian Social National Party candidate” used in conjunction with a Lebanese political election is insult enough. To have a Lebanese political figure [Franjieh] endorse such a candidate -obviously loyal to a foreign country- is injury in addition to the initial insult. Shouldn’t Lebanese elections be for electing Lebanese political parties instead of foreign ones?

Stay honest Doc and we will continue to look up to you as long as you continue on your current path. Speak the truth, speak it often, take responsibility for your stances, give respect to those who politely disagree with them and have courage to pursue your beliefs. A better Lebanon is for those who keep trying to make it better.

What about being loyal and subservient to Israel? Stop being so high and mighty. The LF have never been patriotic only racist. Lol about your comment 'stay honest doc' the man isn't even a doctor. Look up your hero's real history and facts, examine your conscience and stay honest yourself before you start throwing stones. Peace

My father was SSNP and much of my family was as well. SSNP meant more than Arab nationalism to them and their generation. It was one of the only organizations that did not emphasize religion and where all Lebanese were equal...now, it has devolved into an outdated mouthpiece for the Syrian regime, for the Baath party in Syria and for HA. It's just an old relic from the days of Pan Arabism and is not recognizable anymore. The SSNP has not modernized and adapted to the changing political and social landscape and has very few redeeming qualities anymore.

How about Mar Charbel, the patron saint of the criminals of the Lebanese Fartses? Or God and you should suffice this time?
