Aoun: Geagea Jumped to Conclusions over his Assassination Attempt

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun stated on Tuesday that Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea was the first to begin the wave of accusations linked to the failed attempt on his life.

He said after the Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting: “Geagea has jumped to conclusions over the failed assassination attempt before the investigations have reached a result.”

He added that Geagea had started jumping to conclusions when he held a press conference soon after the assassination attempt was announced.

On April 4, LF chief was the victim of a failed sniper attack at his Maarab residence.

Addressing the situation along the border, Aoun stressed the need “to arrest members of the Free Syrian Army and distinguish between them and Syrian refugees.”

“No borders can be completely controlled and it is important to arrest anyone who is caught violating them,” he added.

“It is in our best interest to arrest gunmen and members of the Free Syrian army as they pose a danger to the country,” said the FPM leader.

Arms smuggling across the Lebanese-Syrian border has been on the rise since the eruption of anti-regime protests in Syrian in March 2011.

A number of individuals have been arrested on charges of smuggling weapons and thousands of Syrian refugees have flooded northern Lebanon to escape the regime’s bloody crackdown against demonstrators.

On the appointment of top civil servants, Aoun remarked: “The government must complete these appointments.”

“Who is stopping the appointment of ambassadors?” he asked.

“President Michel Suleiman has no jurisdiction in appointing the head of the Higher Judicial Council,” he added.

@ Former General MA, apparently your short term memory has aided you in forgetting that the regime you are defending today, handed you the worst humiliation of your military career by chasing you out of B3abda and sending you running to your beloved France. However if the Free Syrian Army was fighting on your side then, you would have helped them cross the wall of China if you had to. What a hypocrite!

"I was the first to demand allowing expatriates to vote, but what can we do if they don’t want to. "

Who said that we don't want to? I'll be the first at the embassy doors to vote against him. Shouldn't they try it first? It will cost them 2 million dollars. A drop in their sea of waste.

He's clearly shitting in his pants. No way FPM and Hizbullah let this go through.

@ Flamethrower, i am waiting the moment you read what your general said, as his dear friend Mansour said, about the expatriates vote : They are not worth the trouble , means he has believed the numbers that Mansour gave him. When will you wake up to realise he got out victorius in Jbeil by 2000 votes although he had about 10,000 chiites vote that pushed him through right from the beginning? as well as half of his parliamentary " bloc " is constituted of SSNP's , Marada. Your general only wants the presidency he doesnt care about anything else as long as the hezb gives it to him and will help him through the votes. It is not in his interest as well that expats vote because he will certainly be crushed like the worm he is.Few fools like you still believe he is clean i long to see the moment you will cry and regret your present path.

Let's explain the concept of voting which seems difficult to understand for Moukhouw:
- People who wish to vote cast a ballot to the people they chose as representatives
- People who don't wish to vote don't cast a ballot - This is called abstention and ususally measured in all elections

Neamatallah Abi Nasr “Voting in the 2013 elections by expats is unlikely to take place because the mechanism is not ready,”
a possible 1 million expatriates who were eligible to register to vote, only 3,712 had, partly due to a lack of interest, but also because of the Foreign Ministry’s poor awareness campaign.
“This is shameful,” Abi Nasr told The Daily Star.
“Do you think the Lebanese government will earmark millions of dollars to hold elections for 3,712 or 10,000 or 20,000 or even 50,000 Lebanese abroad?” he asked.
Abi Nasr said he had taken the issue up with Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour during a meeting Friday.Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said Thursday that the behavior of the Foreign Ministry toward expatriates participating in the 2013 parliamentary elections bordered on “treason” and called on Lebanese living abroad to go to their embassies and demand their right to vote." - August 19, 2011

let's drive a petition all of us send an e mail to the embassy for every country we live in .

Aoun: I was the first to demand allowing expatriates to vote, but what can we do if they don’t want to.

December 17, 2010 "Change and Reform bloc MP Nematallah Abi Nasr said on Friday that Lebanese nationals residing abroad will not be able to vote from their countries of residence as long as Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Shami and Director General of Emigrants Haitham Jamaa remain in their posts. Abi Nasr told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) – 100.5 radio station that Shami and Jamaa – who are Shia – are against safeguarding the interests of the emigrants “and only care about emigration in Africa,” a reference to the Shia faith of most Lebanese residing in Africa."

I won't comment on the parts related to internal Lebanese matters as this is none of my business. However I want to comment on his calls for the "arrest of the FSA" members.

When the Syrian revolution prevails, we will carry out similar arrests of Hezbollah and other Iranian allied Lebanese politicians on Syrian soil. There will be no room for the Wi2am Wahhabs or Michel Samaha or Michel Aoun's of this world in a future Syria.

Long live a free and Democratic Syria and Long live the FREE SYRIAN ARMY.

So please go and tell your iranian masters and their followers not to interefere in our affairs before spreading your wisdom and advice to us.

On a different note Aoun did not free Lebanon from Syrian occupation, the death and blood of Rafik Al Harriri and his colleagues are what freed Lebanon. Aoun has been barking for 15 years from his cozy home in France, what a coincidence that he was only able to return when Harriri was assassinated. You Aoun'ists are delusional sheep. Wake up and smell the hummus.

Thumb kesrweneh 25 April 2012, 14:45

Dimashky as a good salafi you should really refrain from talking about things u don’t get especially regarding Lebanese freedom. Rafic Harriri was Assad nbr 1 man for years he even gave him the Keys to Beirut city. and if you remember how to read I said It was FPM (not GMA) lead by GMA who kicked u out of the country and FPM was in Lebanon I myself did 13 days of prison for criticizing ur army deployment in leb. And as for the Lebanese/Iranian fighters how come not one of them was killed or arrested, while salafis from Lybia, Iraq, KSA are being arrested every day. Man go eat some barazi2 and leave my country alone, or we will have to kick you out again

Thumb beiruti 24 April 2012, 21:09

If anyone should know for sure who attempted the assassination of Samir Geagea, it would be Aoun. He has guilty knowledge.

As for characterizing the shots fired as an assassination attempt or as merely shots fired, its a matter of perspective. If your the ones that the shots were fired at, then its an assassination attempt. If you were on the other end of the barrel then it was merely shots fired.

And we all know where Aoun stands when it comes to assassinations and its not on the barrel end of any gun. It is at the elbow of the assassin.

Kelloun chabeb abadayet... hiding behind their so called allies... and trying to picture themselves as co-decision makers...
What decision have you taken on your own since 2005 except the one to sell your (orginal) ideas? Your moto is to fight corruption and your ministers (one in particular) are involved in (arguably) the biggest (or at least most obvious) scandals since the pre-war area! When you are preaching cleanness you need to be beyond suspicion (vs. saying others did more).
You are a party of lyars, thieves and cowards. You don't even deserve people even talk about you - Even Wi'am Wahab is more honest with his electors (at least he hasn't changed his goals and speach).
Who are you to decide if expats want to vote? these people are abroad because of you and your so-called allies. This is the right of every citizen of every democratic country in the world, if your people don't want to vote, they can abstain!
General - you are the biggest coward this country has ever seen!

I could round up 20000 voters in a couple of weeks. If someone can give me a website where we can register it would be good or knowing the embassies you would have to rock up, wait 2 hrs for the form, then 1 hr for a pen and then 2 hrs to submit the paper work. That's why no one goes ther

If the M8 controlled foreign ministry truly wanted the expats to register they should have advertized this on all Lebanese TV channels, mass mailings in foreign countries, contact Lebanese communities abroad but they didn’t do a thing to let the expats and others know...the M8 foreign minister didn't want us to know, that simple.
