Prime Minister Najib Miqati is scheduled to travel to Brussels on Wednesday after holding a cabinet session at the Baabda Palace, headed by Presidents Michel Suleiman, reported the daily An Nahar on Sunday.

The premier is expected to hold talks with his Belgian counterpart Elio Di Rupo and a number of high-ranking officials, including some from the European Commission.

Cabinet is meanwhile set be held on Wednesday with some 62 articles on its agenda.

The government had convened on Friday after a 17-day absence.

It had survived on Thursday a vote of confidence during which 63 lawmakers voiced their support for it, while three Phalange bloc MPs voted against it, and March 14 MPs withdrew from the session.

The vote was held at the end of a heated three-day parliamentary session that was aimed at assessing the government’s performance.
