Berri criticizes pilot zones, says army shouldn't be put to tests

Speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday hailed the Lebanese Army and said that it should not be “put to tests” in connection with the so-called pilot zones scheme in south Lebanon.

In a statement marking Army Day, Berri said the army is the role model of unity, identity, belonging, sacrifice and loyalty, adding that it defends “the unified Lebanon that the Lebanese look for.”

Lamenting that Israel is “delineating the pilot zones with fire, killing and destruction,” the Speaker said the Lebanese Army is “the army of Lebanon and the Lebanese.”

“It is from them and for them, and the focus of their hopes in protecting sovereignty, liberating the land and its people, and preserving stability and civil peace,” Berri added.

"With you and through you we protect Lebanon, achieve its rise and complete the liberation of its land," the Speaker went on to say.

Lebanon will be sovereign and liberated when Hezbollah and Israel can no longer be found anywhere within the defined borders of the Republic. Until then, we are unwillingly occupied by Iran and Israel. Absorbing Hezbollah's military supplied, equipment, and people into the LAF or carving-off sections of Lebanese land to be used as vantage points by Israel will only be continuations of the lies the elders have told and continue telling all Lebanese.

Berri will, as pe the demand of his Iranian bosses, do, or at least try to do, everthing possible to sabotage any agreement between Lebanon and Israel. It is about time that the President and Prime Minister realised this and did something about it. There must be something in the Lebanese penal code which covers his illegal connections with a foreign country whilst being in a Governmental position. It is usually called treason.
