Berri wants ceasefire and withdrawal, regardless of who brings them
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri hopes a meeting set for Tuesday between President Joseph Aoun and U.S. President Donald Trump will yield positive results.
Berri told local news platform al-Afdal, in remarks published Monday, that he only cares about reaching a real solution, regardless of where that solution comes from.
Hezbollah and Amal had criticized a framework agreement reached in Israeli-Lebanese direct talks, but Berri told al-Afdal News that what matters is liberating Lebanon and securing its rights.
Berri revealed that Aoun had called him shortly before departing for Washington to brief him on the visit and consult with him. He urged him to insist on consolidating the ceasefire and ensuring a full Israeli withdrawal from the occupied southern territories.
Berri needs to get with the program: Country before clan; Clan before honor; Honor before religion; Religion before nothing
He wants a ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal as long as his Hizballah friends don't have to give up their arms or their terrorist intentions. It is about time that someone in authority in the country decided to take action against this person who despite receiving his salary from the Republic of Lebanon turns his back on the republic and pledges his allegiance time after time to Iran. He should know by now that liberating Lebanon means getting the country rid of Hizballah.
