Al-Rahi says Iran violating sovereignty through Hezbollah, slams Israeli attacks

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi on Saturday said Iran is violating Lebanon's sovereignty "through Hezbollah," in comments related to the war that has been raging since March 2.

"Our hearts ache for the victims of the war imposed on Lebanon by Hezbollah and Israel, for the displaced, for the destroyed homes, and for those steadfastly enduring isolation from the world, in violation of international laws that call for the protection of civilians and the establishment of humanitarian corridors to deliver essential supplies such as food, medicine, and other necessities," al-Rahi said in his annual Easter message.

"The demand for humanitarian corridors is not merely a humanitarian plea, but an international legal obligation," he added, referring to residents of Christian towns in south Lebanon.

"The church continues its efforts to help Lebanon regain its peace, territorial sovereignty, and independent political decision-making," al-Rahi said.

He warned that "Lebanon is facing a dangerous existential situation due to the violation of its sovereignty by Iran through Hezbollah and by Israeli aggression against its territory."

Al-Rahi added: "Lebanon remains committed to the oath of office taken by President Joseph Aoun, the ministerial statement of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam's government, the Lebanese government resolutions of August 5 and 7, 2025, and March 2, 2026, and the relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions 1559, 1680 and 1701."

He closed his remarks by saying, "And may Jesus bless the racist institutions He has imposed on us in Article 24."

chrisrushlau the world's foremost autistic racist then added "and without article 24 the shias, who are the absolute majority according to noam chomsky (who never said this but i, chrisrushlau insist that he did say this. i am autistic if you try to correct me i'll throw a tantrum hurt myself and others) hum where was i, ok, without article 24 the shias absolute majority can legally take over and vote to, as the famous pro Hezbollah journalist said "throw the christians into the sea". that's not racist that's democracy!

We needn't rely on my citation of Chomsky, which is purely my recollection but I trust my memory. We have your word for it. So that "famous pro Hezbollah journalist's" remark is the basis of your racism. Racism always dresses itself in legalism, like Israel's new law about hanging Palestinians. Apparently the statue doesn't say that in so many words, but that is the inevitable and intended effect of the statute. It looks somewhat like law.

chrisrushlau you're so racist you had to invent a noam chomsky quote to excuse your racism and insist it's real. that's so pathetic!

Throw the Christians into the sea and Lebanon will go back to the Stone Age. Without the Christian what is Lebanon? Nothing would be there, Lebanon would become a country with a population of backward thinking Iranian revolutionists.
