Israeli official threatens Dahieh if Hezbollah not disarmed, confirms Egyptian mediation

There are “serious estimations” that Hezbollah has started to regain its capabilities and has succeeded in smuggling hundreds of short-range missiles from Syria, an Israeli official said on Sunday.

“Israel has relayed a message to the Lebanese side that it might again bomb Beirut’s southern suburbs if Hezbollah is not disarmed,” the official told Al-Arabiya television.

“We will not allow the rebuilding of the Lebanese villages that lie directly on the northern border,” the Israeli official added, noting that Israel will not withdraw from the five occupied Lebanese hills in the “foreseeable future.”

The official also confirmed that Egypt has launched a mediation to prevent escalation on the Lebanese front.
