UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon visits Israel to discuss 1701, November ceasefire

The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, began Thursday a visit to Israel for meetings with senior Israeli officials.
The visit is part of the Special Coordinator’s regular consultations with key stakeholders on the implementation of Security Council resolution 1701 (2006) and the November 2024 Cessation of Hostilities Understanding.
"Amid a climate of regional turbulence, the Special Coordinator continues to urge all parties to fully abide by their commitments under the cessation of hostilities framework and to accelerate the implementation of resolution 1701, which remains the cornerstone for lasting security and stability across the Blue Line," Hennis-Plasschaert's office said Thursday in a statement.

Discussions on 1701 - what's the use when Hizballah continues in its refusal to hand over its weapons to LAF.
Cessation of Hostilities - Hizballah has no interest in laying down its arms and ceasing to be an element in Lebanon which is against any peaceful future for the country.
