GLC Files Complaint to International Labor Organization against Govt., Labor Ministry
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe General Labor Confederation filed a complaint on Tuesday to the International Labor Organization against the Lebanese government and Labor Ministry.
It filed the complaint against violations committed by the government and ministry in determining wages.
It demanded that the International Labor Organization exert efforts with the Lebanese government to force it to respect international labor standards and employee rights, as well as the cabinet decision on January 26, 2012 regarding the wage hike and transportation allowance.
The agreement, signed between the GLC and Economic Committees, sets the minimum wage at LL675,000 – a sum that excludes the transportation allowance.
The GLC added: “The International Labor Organization’s intervention in this issue would not be considered meddling in Lebanese affairs.”
“Such an intervention is allowed by the Lebanese constitution and law seeing as Lebanon is part of the international organization,” it explained.
what is funny is that they are going to obtain the blessing from the ILO with an agreement that undermines the rights of worker. someone should break the news to them that this is not the security council where all we need is US support
