Geagea Says 'Hand Extended' for 'Honorable' Dialogue with FPM

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Wednesday said his party's hand is extended for an “honorable” dialogue with the Free Patriotic Movement, as he reminded that he is still a “presidential candidate.”

“We did not fight during the war to surrender during peace times. We are people who fight honorably and engage in dialogue honorably,” said Geagea at a Maarab ceremony for handing membership cards to LF members.

“As much as our hand was strong in pulling the trigger, it is now extended for shaking hands and creating a better tomorrow for the country,” Geagea added.

Before he began his speech, Geagea addressed a "special salutation" to Elie Khoury, the representative of the FPM at the ceremony.

Preparatory meetings are underway between LF and FPM officials to set the stage for dialogue between Geagea and FPM chief MP Michel Aoun.

Several meetings have been held between MP Ibrahim Kanaan of the FPM and the LF's media officer Melhem Riachi. Kanaan has also visited Geagea in Maarab while Riachi has met with Aoun in Rabieh.

In his speech, Geagea did not forget to remind that he is still in the presidential race.

“You belong to an institution whose leader was a president for the republic (Bashir Gemayel) and whose current leader is a presidential candidate,” Geagea said, addressing his party's members.

The country has been without a president since the end of Michel Suleiman's term on May 25, 2014. Electoral competition between Geagea and Aoun and political differences between the March 14 and March 8 camps have prevented the election of a successor.

“We must shun corruption and clientelism for the sake of the people,” added Geagea.

“The LF is not and will never be a traditional party. It is the story of a people's struggle,” he said.

“Our current struggle is aimed at securing the rise of an actual state in Lebanon. This can only be achieved through collecting illegitimate arms in Lebanon as a necessary prelude to returning the military decision to the Lebanese state exclusively,” the LF leader added.

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 20:12

And who was the one smuggling 130mm artillery shells through Dhour Chweir (controlled by Syria) and taking pictures of Ouwwet positions?? Was it not your general and his "LAF" officers??? Did you know that Aoun was able to do this because he collaborated with Hobeiqa (the man in charge of Sabra and Shatila). Did you know Aoun also rescued Hobeiqa from Karantina???? And Aoun is against outsiders you said?? Are you sure he didn't fight Ouwwet more than he fought Syria??

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 20:16

Nice to see you still trying to involve the LAF in the massacre of Shatilla...your ability to sink the LAF at all times is consistant.

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 20:22

I'm not involving the LAF in Shatila. You're the one crying how Aoun was the only one fighting for Lebanon when in fact he used Syria to smuggle weapons for his war with Geagea. Hobeiqa is the biggest criminal from the civil war yet in the end it was Aoun who was buddies with him. Ironic, ain't it?

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 20:40

wrong again james...I never championed aoun at all...I pointed out how a convicted criminal is allowed to remain in politics..

You seem ready to defend a convicted criminal at all times....but you cry for justice in other instances in fact your willing for the poor Lebanese to pay hundreds of millions to find you your justice.

Hypocrite would best describe you.

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 22:42

small piece of advice bani & his hundred diff names..

A weak & nervous man who feels inferior to others due to lack of knowledge always resorts to name calling at the beginning of every sentence he makes.

notice how you start every sentence bani?

Thumb Mystic 14 January 2015, 20:30

defacto, since when do Israel withdraw due to international pressure? Reason they pulled out was because of their numerous casualties, on a daily basis.

Thumb Mystic 14 January 2015, 20:36

defacto, the Resistance fought the zionists a long time, without any sort of Russian or Soviet support, what kind of influence did Russia have in the 90's?

The 90's were the hardest standoff for Israel, during their occupation of Lebanon.

I congratulate Russia, on their latest anti western stances, but to say that they are the reason the Resistance are here, is pure nonsense and a lie.

"We also are proud to have been on the side of outsiders against the Lebanese army"

You were alluding to Aoun and how he represented the LAF and was betrayed, don't play smart with me Roar. That's what you always do: you bash bash bash Geagea then you sneak in this comment about Aoun's patriotism.

This isn't about me defending a murderer, this is about you not acknowledging that all the leaders in the war were wrong including Aoun. And if you don't acknowledge I feel ashamed for even wasting my time arguing with a stupid punk like you

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 20:48

tha's right james, everyone is stupid but you.....your intolerance to anyone who disagrees with you, sums you & most m14ers to a tee.

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 20:58

keep the tough name calling coming James...its the net right?

place where even the weakest nerd can become a keyboard warrior!

May I suggest you stop hating me or anyone else because our comments do not appease your own.

Why do you have so much hate, james?

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 22:31

I never asked your comments to appease mine. All I asked is you acknowledge that Aoun made mistakes, and you keep dodging me. Yes, I like to portray myself as a keyboard warrior, but that's not the issue here. It's you being arrogant, it's you trying to glorify someone blindly and not accepting the fact that he screwed up like everyone else. That's why I have so much hate Roar. Because you live in absolute denial that Aoun ever did any wrongdoing.

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 22:36

The article is about Geagea & I addressed it.,...its you who came to his rescue like his faithful servant..yet you hypocrite want to tell us that we follow leaders blindly.

what is it your doing ? you have so much hate towards anyone telling you that your master is a convicted murderer.

accept reality & move on....as for Aoun take him with you.

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 23:03

I didn't come to his rescue, I objected to one small part of your post which said "We also are proud to have been on the side of outsiders against the Lebanese army." Just because I'm attacking Aoun does to mean I'm defending Geagea, learn how to tell the difference. And in the post below I already said that all the leaders made mistakes, including Bashir, which means if even Bashir made mistakes, Geagea sure as hell did, just like Hobeiqa, just like Jumblatt, just like Berri, and sure as hell like Aoun.

I've been telling you for two hours to just for once acknowledge for once that the person you support made mistakes. But no, you can't even do that, and your antics exemplify what's wrong with Lebanese society: people blindly following leaders.

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 23:04

to just acknowledge for once*

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 23:14

zzzzz your argument is so self refuting its scary....

you can;t be that slow, surely? related to that other poster called peace ? you know the one that must have the last word in order to think he achieved his daily goal...no matter how silly you look as long as you have the last word right?

go for it, the floor is all yours...last word wonder peace/james

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 23:29

Again, living in denial like usual, can never admit that Aoun did something bad, hilarious. Have a good day.

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 23:44

Just because I'm attacking Aoun does not** mean I'm defending Geagea

Sorry my typo make my post so self-refuting Roar....

Thumb nickjames 15 January 2015, 00:54

Flamey I just hate Aoun and even more I hate idiots who defend him. If that makes me M14 in your dictionary then so be it. Both M8 and M14 need to be abolished, all the politicians need to be replaced, the government should be overthrown... But if that's not gonna happen, if I'm left with these two horrible choices, then yes Flamey, I side with M14 over M8 all day.

Thumb Mystic 14 January 2015, 20:54

Fact is, Geagea AKA Judas will remain the childkiller forever. Good thing nobody killed him while in jail. Nobody is going to make this guy a "martyr", he will die without an heir.

His wife will probaly be the head of LF when he is gone.

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 20:49

The reason schools aren't allowed to teach students about the war is because of people like you, Roar. People like you, who follow leaders blindly and spew their propaganda, who don't acknowledge the one they follow made mistakes. I'm not sympathetic to Ouwwet because of Geagea, I'm sympathetic to Ouwwet because of Bashir, and even he made some mistakes. The day when we all sit down and agree that the civil war was the ugliest chapter in our history is the day where we can become a country. But until that day, we will continue to have the same leaders and the same stupid people following their leaders blindly (people like you, Roar).

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 20:59

Yes we are all stupid James...one day we hope to reach your level .

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 21:18

Don't reach my level Roar. I don't want you anywhere near me. Reach a higher level for yourself, for your conscience. And yes, you are indeed stupid for not acknowledging that you've been following a warlord blindly. I swear if it was practical I'd come to Australia and kick your behind so bad you'd never come on this site again. Your arrogance is disgusting, it's a sickness.

Thumb nickjames 14 January 2015, 21:32

Lol comparing me to Geagea how noble of you Roar.

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 21:34

your most welcome..just stop scaring people with your toughness over the net....its so believable just like most of your posts.

Thumb nickjames 15 January 2015, 00:57

I see Flamey, living in denial just like Roar. Can't admit that Aoun made mistakes, ma hek? Aoun was the legit Army commander... But are you sure he didn't use the LAF for personal objectives i.e attack only Ouwwet when he could have went after PSP, Amal, Hezbollah, Syria... Are you sure he fought a war of liberation?? He used those very occupiers to smuggle artillery and take photographs of Ouwwet's positions. And why didn't he stay in Lebanon and defend his men like a LEGIT army commander would??? Why didn't he face charges, like the murderer Geagea did??? Why did he leave his family in the Palace as he fled in a tank to the French Embassy??? What an honourable commander...

Thumb nickjames 15 January 2015, 01:43

Dear Flamey,
Three times in my argument with Roar I asked him to acknowledge that Aoun made mistakes, and he refused. And the story about Aoun smuggling artillery through Dhour Chweir is real, just like Geagea dumping toxic waste is real. Aoun is a warlord because he collaborated with Hobeiqa to fight Geagea. And he claimed to be fighting Syria but he used their area to smuggle weapons and fuel to fight a war for personal ambitions. Yes, he is a warlord.

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 22:15

simple bani & his hundred diff names.....I am now asking for the General to step down from the FPM.

I will not accept any deals done under any circumstances with a convicted murderer....if they are for bettering ties for the Christians, so be it..but these 2 can both leave....No convicted murderer should ever be allowed to remain in politics, nor anyone who associates with them.

Thumb the_roar 14 January 2015, 22:46

What I said is still true..history cannot be changed...but I will not accept any deals with a known convicted criminal & the if the General goes ahead with it....He is no longer someone I am willing to support.

Unlike you bani, I support what I see fit at the time.

Sometimes I vote Liberal other times I vote Labor maybe the Nationals

M11 just read our argument above, you're about to waste a lot of time. Roar is very stubborn and arrogant, he'll never concede that Aoun ever did something wrong in his life... Please read above, take screenshots and send them to your friends. It's hilarious.

Thumb nickjames 15 January 2015, 00:00

Nice comment about Karami's government. The Syrian government offered Geagea positions in the government, and he could have accepted but he didn't. He could've fled afterwards, but he didn't. He can be a murderer all he wants (just like all the other guys), but at least he didn't bow down to the Syrians (helping them shell Aoun's palace does not count as bowing down, especially since Aoun attacked Ouwwet earlier in the year), and at least he didn't flee like a pansy. He was the only one sent to jail for his crimes (unlike any of the others who committed the very same crimes).

Thumb nickjames 15 January 2015, 00:11

"Whether convicted or not, a criminal will remain a criminal" miyyeh bel miyyeh. Roar sees only Geagea as a criminal because he was the only one held accountable for his crimes. Geagea is free today for that very reason. Either everyone is held accountable i.e everyone gets put in jail, or no one.

Thumb nickjames 15 January 2015, 01:00
