March 14 Mulling Steps to Approach Iran, West

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

The March 14 alliance is mulling the possibility of taking several steps to approach the west and the Islamic Republic of Iran to explain its point of view regarding the latest developments in the region and the nuclear deal reached in Geneva.

According to An Nahar newspaper published on Thursday, the coalition is seeking to contact Iran and the west concerning the situation in Lebanon and the Arab world and the dangerous impact it would have on the country and the results of the ongoing involvement of Hizbullah in the battles in war-torn Syria.

The daily reported that head of al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc MP Fouad Saniora had kicked off the contacts with Iran in two cables sent to the country's President Hassan Rouhani.

The first letter was to congratulate Rouhani on his election in June, while the second came in light of the nuclear deal between Tehran and the west.

Iran and the P5+1 group -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany -- reached a landmark deal in Geneva on November 24 on the Islamic republic's disputed nuclear drive that the West suspects has military dimensions, despite Tehran's denial.

An Nahar reported that Saniora briefed Rouahni in his second letter on al-Mustaqbal bloc's stance from the nuclear deal, Iran's expected role in Lebanon on the basis of mutual respect and the dangers of Hizbullah's intervention in Syria.

Al-Joumhouria newspaper reported that Saniora held talks with Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea in Maarab in presence of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri's adviser Mohammed Shatah and head of Hariri's office Nader Hariri.

The meeting comes after a meeting at the Center House on Tuesday night between Phalange party leader Amin Gemayel, Saniora and Shatah.

Hmmm ... wonder what Saad thinks about this ... or is this yet another M14 head fake to divert attention from their obstructionism?

m8 guys are unable to understand things.
the agreement between iran and the world is still not implemented.
iran has to implement some steps first, and m14 contacts with iran are only to clarify what needs to be done on the Lebanese part of the agreement.
m8 guys are unable to see the reality of things: assad tried to say he will run in the next elections, and the Russian immediately straightened the matter: no way Jose :)
the international agreement is still pending iran to make the necessary steps.

Thumb geha 19 December 2013, 09:56

as demonstrated by the messages of KSA (being tough advising they would act without the west) and the comments of Russia today, and the new sanctions on breachers of the sanctions by the US, such messages are to push iran to act.
as well, the article about the destruction by Israel of hizbushaitan capabilities, falls into the same direction.
the STL is also in the same direction and hizbushaitan will be indicted.
iran has no choice but to comply, and they will sacrifice hizbushaitan.

Thumb geha 19 December 2013, 10:16

to clean the mess in Lebanon there are 2 issues to solve:
- iran
- Syria
if not solved these issues will constantly disrupt any positive change.
now if iran complies with the agreement it would solve the whole problem peacefully, otherwise it will be a major war.
such a war will not even need us to participate in it as all countries will be involved.
as for Russia:
you are correct, but the agreed outcome is the new regime will be a mixture between the old one and the opposition, excluding controversial figures, thus guaranteeing the exclusion of etremists.
Russia will still be paid by iran :)

Thumb benzona 19 December 2013, 10:35

my message got censored yet it didn't contain anything sanctionable.... weird.

Thumb geha 19 December 2013, 10:02

actually I am kind of hoping they will not comply to the agreement they made, as it will result in bombing iran massively with the help of Russia, who has put itself on the line to vouch for them.
see the issue here is that this is their last chance, and all the high noise from Israel and KSA is not just high noise :)

Thumb benzona 19 December 2013, 10:08

yes, i know they are cornered but then again, we rely too much on other countries to clean the mess in our land. shouldn't we seek to constitute our high tech arsenal to counter their terrorism?
Everyone is happy now that Bachar is weak, especially israel. replacing hi; by an unknown regime is too risky for them. as of Russia, they loaned so much money/credit to bachar for their weapons it's not even funny. syrians will have to pay the bill whether the terrorist regime remains or not.

lebanon sucks.... and i'm not optimistic about it.

geha... to clean the mess in lebanon there is only 1 issue to resolve:

no more sectarian politics and as a result, foreign allegiances! this is the sole cause of all problems in lebanon.

Let all lebanese, sunni, shiite, maronite, greek orthodox, druze, melkite, etc... know and believe in the republic of lebanon. know the national anthem and respect and trust the Lebanese armed forces, and the mess in lebanon will be resolved!

Maybe 1 more issue... all foreign refugees leave. (ie palestinian, syrian, iraqi etc)

Thumb geha 19 December 2013, 18:03

actually, I agree to this comment of yours. but let us see:
- I am 100% against any influence of the west or the arab world. can you say the same about iran and the Syrian regime?
- I am 100% in agreement about managing refugees, paslestinians or Syrians, but are you? Hizbushaitan refused executing the agreement in regards with the Palestinian weapons outside the camps!
so come off it and be honest.
we are for Lebanon first, while you are for iran first by executing their orders blindly.
we are for Lebanon first, while you are for the Syrian regime and all its assassinations and bombings of Lebanese citizens.

Russia on Thursday issued a rare criticism of its ally Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, saying statements that he wanted to run in presidential elections in 2014 risked harming the atmosphere ahead of peace talks.

Indeed Russia did warn Assad ... Keep your mouth shut while you are winning to give political cover to the US\EU position change that will allow you to stay in power ...

We know the entire UN Security Council (US, UK, France, China and Russia)wants a Syria free of Nusra and Qaeda as they are all afraid of the "blowback" of such an outcome.

Russia has the Caucasus problem, China the Uighur problem and have already seen partial blowback. It won't be long before the US and the EU see terrorism at home and at embassies around the world.

Russia is telling Assad not to rub defeat in the faces of the P5 or prolong an already catastrophic war that Russia is helping to subsidize for Assad. The US\EU are already pushing back in the Ukraine.

In diplomacy, it is the norm to talk to everyone and keep all avenues of dialog open, but then, before we Lebanese start talking to foreigners, we must start talking to and with each other, then we have a clear understanding, should we talk to the foreigners, not a minute before. When we do, then it means that we Lebanese are simply trying to advance a dice against our siblings. We Lebanese have always held the snake by the tail and because of this, we shall continue to be bitten and smothered.

Thumb geha 20 December 2013, 08:01

I just intercepted a sleeping hizbullah cell member in north america; when interrogating him about how 90% of Iranian population feels is not represented by the propaganda of that of its present rulers, he admitted he was shiaa' from them but that those Iranians do not believe in the teaching... funny how some Lebanese shiaa' can be more royalist than their so called motherland... or not, its conversion to shia islam from sunni is only recent in history for its strategic purpose. Empires eventually collapse and sooner or later this shiaa' upperhand with all its negative implications on Lebanon will equalize so that a new Lebanon will emerge that would contain all constituents... wait, I think that was too much of idealistic, slay bashar now!
