The international envoy for Bosnia told the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday that any attempt by Bosnian Serbs to revive their separatist ambitions must be firmly rebuffed.

High Representative Valentin Inzko said he was concerned by the Bosnian Serb ruling party's threat to hold an independence referendum in 2018.

A Dutch appeals court ruled Wednesday that three former U.N. commanders will not be prosecuted for the deaths of three Muslim men who were murdered after leaving a U.N. compound in Srebrenica in 1995.

Relatives of the three victims took U.N. Dutch Battalion commanders to court five years ago, saying the three were expelled into the hands of Bosnian Serb forces during the darkest episode of the country's 1991-95 civil war.

Turkey on Wednesday stopped Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik's plane from flying over its territory, preventing him from attending a ceremony to mark the centenary of the Armenian genocide, his cabinet said.

"Although all authorizations for this flight had been initially obtained, Turkish authorities did not allow the flight over their territory," Dodik's cabinet said in a statement.

Serbian police routinely harass and abuse illegal immigrants and asylum seekers, Human Rights Watch said Wednesday, a claim immediately denied by the country's interior ministry.

The watchdog interviewed dozens of migrants and asylum seekers who "described violent assaults, threats, insults, and extortion, denial of the required special protection for unaccompanied children, and summary returns to the former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia," an HRW report released in New York said.

Serbian ultra-nationalist Vojislav Seselj, who on Wednesday burnt a Croatian flag in public in Belgrade, does not represent Serbia, the country's prime minister said on Thursday.

"Mr. Seselj represents neither a parliamentary political party nor the state," Aleksandar Vucic said during a visit to Slovakia's capital Bratislava.

The U.N. Yugoslav war crimes tribunal on Monday revoked the provisional release of ailing accused Serb leader Vojislav Seselj after he vowed not to return to the court.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) "orders the trial chamber to immediately revoke Seselj's provisional release and order his return to the United Nations Detention Unit," in The Hague, court documents said.

Serbian police on Wednesday detained seven people suspected of taking part in the execution of around 1,000 people at a warehouse during the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, in the first arrests by Serbian authorities over mass killings during the atrocity.

The seven, identified only by initials, were said to be members of a Bosnian Serb wartime police unit who carried out the killings near Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia on a single day in July 1995.

A Serbian military helicopter evacuating a five-day-old baby for emergency medical treatment has crashed in heavy fog, killing all seven people on board, the officials said Saturday.

A four-member crew, two medical workers and the baby were all killed in the crash, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on public RTS television.

Three French citizens were arrested in Serbia Friday after kidnapping a two-year-old girl in the capital Belgrade, prompting a movie-style police chase.

Around noon a man snatched the girl from her mother's arms on the street and fled in a car driven by a woman, police said.
