A rocked was fired on Monday evening from southern Lebanon towards Israel, as sirens wailed across northern Israeli settlements without any immediate reports of injuries.

"A rocket was fired from an area near (the southern) al-Jarmaq region in Wadi al-Litani towards Israel,” LBCI television reported in the evening.

The head of Israel's manufacturers' association has urged his European counterparts not to boycott Israeli businesses, warning that such a move could hit Palestinians as well, in a letter seen Monday.

The open letter to European industry leaders comes a week before Israel is due to end exports of poultry and dairy produce from its West Bank settlements to the EU.

The Palestinian leadership is to demand the international community set a deadline for Israel to end its occupation of the territories, a senior official told Agence France-Presse on Monday. 

The move comes as Palestinian and world leaders continue to push for a halt to seven weeks of bloodshed in Gaza, and seek a more permanent end to violence between Israel and the Islamist movement, Hamas.

Israel said Sunday it had killed a top Hamas financial official in an air strike on Gaza City, as it continued a policy of targeted assassinations against the Palestinian group.

Mohammed al-Ghul "was an important Hamas actor who dealt with transferring funds to build terror infrastructure in Gaza, such as tunnels, and was a key target," Israeli army spokesman Major Arye Shalicar said.

The Palestinian president and Hamas' exiled leader Friday urged the United Nations to draw up a "timetable" for the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories to end, Qatar state media said.

President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas supremo Khaled Meshaal issued the appeal during talks in Doha, as fighting continues in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, Qatar's state news agency QNA said.

Israeli air strikes killed five Palestinians in the center of the Gaza Strip on Friday, two in Deir al-Balah and three in Nusseirat, the local emergency services said.

One strike in Nusseirat hit a house, killing two men aged 24 and 22, while in Deir al-Balah it landed in open farmland, Ashraf al-Qudra told Agence France-Presse.

Hamas gunmen executed 18 Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel in the heart of Gaza City on Friday, as the deadly war between the Islamist movement and Israel reached day 46.

The Palestinian emergency services say another 75 people have died in Gaza since hostilities resumed on Tuesday following a nine-day truce. In Israel, two civilians have been wounded by direct rocket attacks.

A Palestinian lawmaker said on Thursday she would challenge a deportation order from the Israeli military authorities who have ordered her out of Ramallah.

Hizbullah deplored on Thursday the killing of U.S. journalist James Foley, describing it as a "brutal crime."

"James Foley was brutally murdered by terrorist gangs," a statement issued by Hizbullah's press office said.

Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas held talks with exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal on Thursday as renewed fighting raged in Gaza following the collapse of Egyptian-brokered truce efforts.

The talks in Doha, where Meshaal is based, were hosted by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, a key backer of the Islamist movement which dominates Gaza, the Gulf state's QNA news agency reported.
