Italian police said Monday they had busted a ring of smugglers who attempted to traffic cocaine from Latin America to Europe by hiding it in surf boards and a sailing boat.

Wildlife rangers in Western Australia's Kimberly region released video on Monday that reveals the sea eagle's caper. The bird's flapping wings can be seen as it grabs the device and takes off, and the eagle later poses for a selfie, poking its face into the camera lens.

Debris from the rocket carrying China's first moon rover plummeted to earth in a village more than a thousand kilometers from the launch site, crashing into two homes, a report said Tuesday.

Two grave robbers trapped underground in a Chinese Tang dynasty tomb for more than 24 hours were rescued by police, who promptly arrested them, state media said Monday.
The pair were among five suspected thieves in the northern province of Shaanxi who were excavating a grave which was among a cluster of emperors' mausoleums and tombs dating from the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD).

A 29-year-old man who says he was trying to spread holiday cheer by tossing 1,000 dollar bills over an upper floor railing at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, has been cited for disorderly conduct.
Serge Vorobyov, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, admitted throwing his "last $1,000" from the fourth floor on Friday as a choir performed "Let it Snow." Vorobyov said he also kept tossing cash as he continued down the escalator.

The most popular giant panda in U.S.-China relations finally was given an identity Sunday as the Smithsonian's National Zoo named its female 100-day-old cub Bao Bao after receiving more than 123,000 votes online from the public.
Bao Bao, which means "treasure" or "precious," is only the second surviving cub born at the National Zoo since the first pandas arrived in 1972 to commemorate President Richard Nixon's historic visit to China. Pandas have remained a happy symbol of diplomacy between the two countries.

An inmate who slipped out of a Swedish prison to treat an aching tooth before turning himself in to police had his sentence prolonged, but just by a day.
The inmate escaped Oestragaard prison in southwest Sweden earlier this month, just two days before he was due to be released from prison, "because he had a toothache and wanted to go to the dentist," prison officials said.
