Istanbul Plans Floating Car Parks

Istanbul is planning to introduce floating car parks to try to resolve the chronic traffic problems of Turkey's largest city, local officials said Tuesday.

The municipal car park operator said it will use out-of-service ferries anchored in the Bosphorus to create multi-storey lots near traffic hotspots.

A passenger who fell asleep while flying to Los Angeles said he awoke to discover himself alone and locked inside a dark, empty plane in Houston.

Tom Wagner said he was supposed to change planes Friday at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. But no staff noticed he was still sleeping in a window seat at the rear of the flight from Louisiana before they closed up the jet.

Forgotten Change Adds Up at U.S. Airports

Travelers left behind a record $531,395.22 in loose change at security checkpoints in U.S. airports in fiscal 2012, the Transportation Security Administration says.

In a report to Congress, seen by the Washington Post, the TSA said more than $10,000 in change was forgotten at each of 13 major airports in such cities as New York, Dallas, Atlanta and San Francisco.

A pastry chef who stunned Singapore marathon organizers by being the first local runner across the finish line admitted he cheated -- and has been doing so for years, a report said Thursday.
