U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea on Wednesday held talks in Diman with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi.

Judge Ghada Aoun issued on Wednesday a search warrant for Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh in the case against the Mecattaf firm and the SGBL bank, TV networks said.

The search warrant was issued after Riad Salameh refrained from attending several sessions in the case of the illegal money transfers of the beforementioned company and bank.

Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati “had made up his mind and was intending to present a new cabinet line-up to President Michel Aoun” on Tuesday, according to media sources.

The sources told al-Liwaa newspaper, in remarks published Wednesday, that “local parties including Hizbullah have contacted Miqati to convince him to give more time for solving the conflicts and finding common ground with Aoun,” before deciding on the line-up.

The Free Patriotic Movement on Wednesday denied that its leader Jebran Bassil is interfering in the cabinet formation process.

Representative of Fuel Distributors Fadi Abu Shakra confirmed in a TV interview Tuesday that "there will be a follow-up to the security meeting, that was held at the Grand Serail, to control the market,” and that “decisions will be taken later.”

Abu Shakra said that “several ships are unloading,” and called on citizens “to be patient,” because “it will take more than one day” to fulfil the market needs.

Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab on Tuesday chaired a Grand Serail meeting dedicated to studying the mechanism of distributing fuel in the crisis-hit country.

Caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hassan carried out on Monday an inspection tour of warehouses that store medicines and infant milk in many Lebanese regions.

The tour aimed to monitor the selling and distribution of medicines in light of the companies’ remittances received by the Ministry of Health from the Central Bank.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Monday ridiculed Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s declared plans for bringing fuel ships from Iran.

“As for Sayyed Hassan’s promised ship, it is nothing but a silly little joke amid the tragedy that we are living,” Geagea said in a statement.

President Michel Aoun on Monday hoped the coming days “will carry positive developments regarding the formation of the government.”

He added that the formation of a new cabinet “would launch a recovery workshop at the various levels.”

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Sunday announced that a second ship carrying fuel will sail to Lebanon “within days.”
