President Michel Suleiman travels to Peru on Sunday to head the Arab group that will participate in the third summit between South American nations and Arab countries.
First lady Wafaa and a large ministerial delegation accompanies Suleiman to the South American country for the summit that starts on Monday.

The European Union's Political and Security Committee expressed on Saturday support for the Lebanese government in its efforts to preserve security and backed the Lebanese Armed Forces in confronting internal and external threats.
The members of the committee chaired by Olof Skoog met with Prime Minister Najib Miqati in the presence of EU Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst at the Grand Serail.

President Michel Suleiman stressed on Thursday that Lebanese expatriates have the right to vote in the 2013 parliamentary elections, lamenting the fact that the state has not done enough for them.
He wondered: “Isn't the parliamentary electoral law a cornerstone of the democratic system? Don't the expatriates have the right to vote?”

Prime Minister Najib Miqati is scheduled to address on Thursday the 67th General Assembly meeting held at the United Nations headquarters in New York around midnight Beirut time.
The premier contacted President Michel Suleiman to brief him on the meetings that he held in New York with top officials, according to a statement issued by Miqati's press office.

President Michel Suleiman's expected visit to South America over the weekend will not include Argentina over a terrorist attack allegedly carried out by Hizbullah in Buenos Aires, media reports said on Thursday.
Sources told al-Liwaa newspaper that Suleiman's visit to Argentina was canceled because of the pressure exerted by the Israeli lobby in Buenos Aires over accusations that Hizbullah carried out the attack on a Jewish association in Argentina's capital in 1994.

President Michel Suleiman noted on Tuesday that Lebanon has always remain an open ground for individual freedom and belief, which has also made its a victim of foreign interests.
He added: “Lebanon should no longer serve as an open ground for these foreign powers, but we must not allow our stability to be presented as a sacrifice for the Arab Spring.”
March 14 officials will hold intense talks next week to unite their stance on President Michel Suleiman's blueprint on a national defense strategy and an electoral law that satisfies all the opposition parties, a March 14 opposition told al-Mustaqbal daily Sunday.
Some opposition officials have already made several proposals and meetings are being held to discuss them, al-Mustaqbal and An Nahar newspapers said.

President Michel Suleiman hailed on Saturday the measures undertaken by the Army in the northeastern Bekaa border town of Arsal.
“The measures carried out by the Army in Arsal are to preserve Lebanese territories,” Suleiman said in a statement.

Cypriot Defense Minister Dimitris Eliadis held talks on Saturday with senior Lebanese officials who stressed that the bilateral ties between Lebanon and Cyprus are “excellent.”
“Lebanon's stability is a key component to maintain stability in the region,” Eliadis said during a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Minister Fayez Ghosn.

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun stressed the importance of the complementary role of the army and resistance, reported al-Akhbar newspaper on Saturday.
He explained that the Lebanese army is functioning as a border guard “and it would be incapable of defending Lebanon in case of an assault, especially an Israeli one."
