Bahrain has summoned the Lebanese embassy's charge d'affaires to demand a “clear condemnation” of recent remarks about the Gulf kingdom by Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

“The foreign ministry has summoned Mr. Ibrahim Elias Assaf, the Lebanese republic's charge d'affaires in the kingdom, following the latest hostile remarks by Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of the terrorist Hizbullah,” said a statement carried by Bahrain's news agency BNA.

Hizbullah announced on Sunday that "their position is fixed" regarding the issue of the presidential elections, because one can not take "risks" in this case, but rather electing a person that "has a real representation" between Christians.

Hizbullah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah held talks Tuesday with Defense Minister Samir Moqbel.

Nasrallah met Moqbel in the presence of Wafiq Safa, head of the party's Liaison and Coordination Unit, according to a Hizbullah statement.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Sunday stressed that his party's military intervention in Syria has nothing to do with esoteric end days prophecies about the return of Imam Mahdi.

“We are fighting in Syria to prevent American, Zionist and takfiri hegemony,” Nasrallah said in a largely religious speech marking the eighth night of Ashura.

Saudi Arabia stressed Thursday that it was the first country to engage in the fight against terrorism, in an apparent response to recent remarks by Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

The kingdom was “among the first states that fought terrorism and suffered its attacks,” Saudi National Guard Minister Prince Mutaib bin Abdullah said.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Monday that Saudi Arabia must shoulder a bigger responsibility in the fight against the extremist ideology of the Islamic State group, noting that military efforts alone cannot eradicate the jihadist organization.

“Nowadays, the prime responsibility in the Islamic world for stopping the proliferation of this ideology falls on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” Nasrallah said in a televised speech.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared that the “Lebanese support” for gunmen in Syria is still taking place, reiterating that Hizbullah's fighting in the neighboring country's al-Qusayr and al-Qalamunm regions prevented the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant would from reaching Beirut.

"If we hadn't fought in Qusayr and al-Qalamoun, ISIL would have reached Beirut and coastal regions,” Nasrallah said in the second excerpts of an interview in al-Akhbar newspaper to be published on Friday.

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stated that there are “no red lines” in the “security war” with Israel, reported al-Akhbar newspaper.

He told the daily in excerpts released on Wednesday: “Hamas was not serious in its call on Hizbullah for assistance in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.”

Head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblat is scheduled to hold talks on Saturday with Marada Movement chief MP Suleiman Franjieh, reported al-Liwaa newspaper on Saturday.

It said that the talks will focus on the latest developments in Lebanon, especially in light of the return to Lebanon of head of the Mustaqbal Movement MP Saad Hariri following a three-year absence.

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat and Free Patriotic Movement chief Michel Aoun discussed on Tuesday the presidential deadlock and the importance of backing the Lebanese army.

Jumblat left Rabieh without addressing reporters but the two parties later issued a joint statement describing their meeting as “frank and friendly.”
