Lebanon's Basketball Team Advances to Quarters of FIBA Asia Cup Tournament

Lebanon's national basketball team advanced on Tuesday to the quarterfinals of the fourth FIBA Asia Cup basketball tournament held in Japan, reported the National News Agency.

The defending champions topped group one by earning a third-straight victory when they crushed Uzbekistan 84-49.

Lebanon will play Qatar during the quarterfinal on Thursday.

Coach Ghassan Sarkis rested a number of players for the game against Uzbekistan.

Captain Fadi al-Khatib meanwhile was the match top-scorer with 37 points and 11 rebounds.

Charles Tabet scored 13 points, while Elie Rustom and Nadim Saeed each scored 10.

By defeating Uzbekistan, Lebanon topped its group by seven points, followed by the Philippines and then China, both of which also earned seven points.
