Mustaqbal Urges Gulf States to Disregard Nasrallah’s Remarks

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc on Tuesday voiced concerns over the "negative repercussions of the delay" in forming a new cabinet.

In this regard, the bloc cited "the surfacing of further negative economic and financial indicators, the obstruction of citizens' interests, the decline in tourism and financial growth rates and the deterioration in confidence in Lebanon."

In a statement issued after its weekly meeting in Qureitem under ex-PM Fouad Saniora, Al-Mustaqbal bloc said the latest speech by Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was aimed at "justifying the problems caused by his previous speech, especially regarding the crisis he created with some of the brotherly Arab states after his interference in the internal affairs of those countries."

The bloc noted that Nasrallah's stances had "negative repercussions on the Lebanese residing in those countries."

It urged the officials in the Gulf Cooperation Council states to spare Lebanese expatriates any negative reactions that might be caused by the "remarks and deeds of some sides who do not reflect the feelings of the vast majority of the Lebanese."

The bloc voiced surprise over "Sayyed Nasrallah's deliberate and recurrent disregard of the aid presented by Saudi Arabia for the reconstruction of almost half of the facilities destroyed by the (2006) Israeli aggression" against Lebanon.

On a separate note, Al-Mustaqbal bloc reiterated its condemnation of the "attempts of some political parties and media outlets" to accuse the Mustaqbal Movement and the March 14 forces of being involved in "the ongoing events in brotherly Syria."

The bloc condemned the alleged attempts as "suspicious, unsuccessful and totally false," stressing that "it categorically rejects any meddling in Syria's internal affairs, in line with the bloc's stances that reject any interference in Lebanon's affairs."
