Report: Jordan Denies Halting Official Visits to Lebanon
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةSecretary General of the Jordanian Foreign Ministry Mohammed Ali al-Zahir denied on Saturday that his country decided to temporarily “postpone” and “cancel” any official visits to Lebanon.
“The recent reports are false,” Zahir told reporters after holding talks with Prime Minister Najib Miqati at the Grand Serail.
He said that Jordan didn’t issue a travel restriction advisory nor urge its nationals in Lebanon to leave the country.
Zahir confirmed that there are several important Jordanian figures in Lebanon on private visits.
On Thursday, “al-Arab al-Yawm” reported that Jordanian Prime Minister Fayez al-Tarawneh ordered to currently halt any official visits to Beirut.
Zahir stressed that the Lebanese-Jordanian relations are stronger than these “malicious rumors.”
Lebanon has recently witnessed a series of incidents in the northern city of Tripoli and along the Lebanese-Syrian border.
In May, four Gulf countries advised their citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon and urged its nationals currently present in the country to leave due to the unstable security situation.
