There will be no Israeli escalation in south Lebanon in the coming period, a media report said.

"Lebanese lobbying groups have managed to reach an assessment that the South will not come under escalatory attacks in the coming period," al-Liwaa newspaper reported on Thursday, citing “reports that have been sent to Beirut.”

Is Israel one of those Lebanese lobbying groups? Racism's unpredictability, even to itself, is its hallmark.

No, the Salam family is not Christian. They are a prominent Sunni Muslim family rooted in Beirut, Lebanon.
The family has historically held immense political and religious influence within Lebanon's Sunni community:
• Religious Ties: Abdel Ghani Salam, who founded the Al-Liwaa newspaper in 1963, deliberately integrated a permanent Islamic section called "Islamiyyat" into the paper to cover religious lessons and Muslim affairs. His family frequently worked alongside Dar al-Fatwa (the highest Sunni Muslim religious authority in Lebanon).
• Political Legacy: Under the Lebanese confessional system—where political offices are strictly divided by religious sect—the office of Prime Minister is reserved exclusively for a Sunni Muslim. Multiple members of the broader Salam political dynasty have held this position, including former Prime Ministers Saeb Salam and Tammam Salam, as well as the UN judge and current Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

Ownership: The [al-Liwaa newspaper] newspaper is published by Dar Al-Liwaa for Press and Publishing. The corporate structure is closely held by the Salam family, with Salah Salam's three daughters holding 98% of the company's shares.
