Denmark's foreign minister said Saturday that a "binding" agreement on Greenland's security with the U.S. "strengthens security" in the Arctic, ahead of its expected signing in the coming days.

"Next week could be a good week... For Greenland, Denmark, and the United States alike. A long period of uncertainty will hopefully be replaced by a binding agreement that strengthens security in the Arctic and North Atlantic and thereby also our shared security in NATO and Europe," Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said in a post on social media.
