Aoun to deliver key speech on Army Day

President Joseph Aoun will deliver Thursday a key speech marking Army Day that will tackle the thorny issue of Hezbollah’s disarmament, media reports said.

MTV reported that Aoun’s address will resemble an “update” of his inaugural oath speech.

The president “will speak with total clarity” and “will for the first time reveal to the Lebanese public opinion the content of the Lebanese paper that was delivered to U.S. envoy Tom Barrack and what it included of major gains for Lebanon and guarantees for the South and its people,” MTV said.

“He will also mention the threats that Lebanon will face if the Lebanese do not unanimously agree to the implementation of what they had committed themselves to, days before raising the issue of illegitimate arms for the first time around Cabinet’s table,” the TV network added.
