U.S. Deputy Special Envoy for the Middle East Morgan Ortagus told some Lebanese officials who contacted her Thursday over the latest Israeli airstrikes that she would visit Lebanon soon to work on consolidating the ceasefire, Lebanese officials told al-Joumhouria newspaper.

A specific date for her visit is yet to be announced, the sources added.

Informed sources meanwhile told the daily that “the Lebanese side has lately intensified its efforts with Washington to activate the ceasefire monitoring committee, to make it the necessary tool of communication for halting the Israeli attacks.”

“But the U.S. side that heads the committee did not respond to the request,” the sources added.
