Kurds Advance against IS Group in Syria's Kobani

A Kurdish official and an activist group say Kurdish fighters have advanced in the contested northern Syrian town of Kobani after heavy clashes with the Islamic State group.
Nawaf Khalil, a spokesman for the Kurdish Democratic Union Party, says Kurdish fighters advanced Saturday in six neighborhoods and have besieged the IS-held Cultural Center east of town.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the main Syrian Kurdish force, known as the People's Protection Units, or YPG, killed several IS fighters.
The IS group began its Kobani offensive in mid-September, capturing parts of the town as well as dozens of nearby villages.
Kurdish forces have gradually pushed the extremist group back in recent weeks with the help of U.S.-led coalition airstrikes.

I also find it interesting how ALL the main western media or their puppets and ALL pro-Assad medias and their bigjohns do not mention that most Syrian Leftists/Marxists are against Assad.
But why are they anti-Assad, I guess getting arrested, beaten, tortured and murdered for 40 years by that criminal regime is not something one can forgot easily.

They are more secular, espouse more reasonable values, allow women to engage in society even in war unlike other factions. Nothing is ever 100% to one's liking and some aspects are more attractive than others.

Well, they deserve to have their own state more than the Arab settlers who have already 23 States.
To use your language, they are native and original dwellers with their own Kurdish old culture, not like Arab speakers who are from Arabia.
They are defending their homes from Shia imperialism and Arab hegemony. And they advocate a far more intelligent Islam than Arab do. God bless the Kurdish nation.
