Nasrallah Says Hizbullah Prevented ISIL from Reaching Beirut

Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has said that jihadists of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) would have reached Beirut had his party not sent its fighters to Syria.
“Had we not interfered in Syria at the appropriate moment, ISIL would have been in Beirut now,” he told the leaders of al-Mahdi Scouts Association during a meeting on Sunday.
The Hizbullah secretary-general wondered why the party's critics have not condemned ISIL's advance on the Iraqi capital.
In the latest fighting, the militants took control of several neighborhoods of Tal Afar, a mainly Shiite Turkmen town between the rebel-held second city of Mosul and the Syrian border, officials and residents said.
The Iraqi government has insisted it is making progress in retaking territory from the militants, who currently hold most or parts of four provinces north of Baghdad.
The security forces will be joined by a flood of volunteers after a call to arms from top Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.
Nasrallah lauded al-Sistani's call, saying it “aims at protecting Iraq and not just a single sect.”
The Hizbullah chief hinted that some regional and Gulf countries were involved in the fighting in Iraq.
“Who is benefiting from what's going on there?” he asked.
He also raised doubt about Washington's stance as it weighs possible drone strikes against the militants.
Nasrallah expressed relief over the improvement of the security situation in Lebanon. But warned that “this does not mean things have gone back to normal.”
“We should always take precautions,” he said.
He reiterated the need to elect a president who “does not stab the resistance in the back.”
Lebanon has been without a head of state since the expiry of Michel Suleiman's six-year term on May 25.
Parliament failed to elect a successor over differences between the March 8 and 14 alliances on a compromise candidate.

FT - Reality is ISIL would have been finished in Syria if the regime and its allies rushed to save it the beginning of this year when the rebel moved to crush it. What happened? The regime intensified its attacks on the rebels and provided ISIL air and artillery cover.

What a bunch of crock. If the Syrian regime did not save ISIL when the rebels started fighting it, we would not have them to worry about. Indeed the Assad regime, the Hizb and Iran are the main reason that ISIL is a major actor right now.

- Had the Assad regime not started shooting at peaceful demonstrators, ISIL would not have existed in Syria.

- Had the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hezbollah and the Assad regime not existed, the world would have been a much better place.
- Had Israel accepted a just peace with the Palestinian, the world would have been a much better place.
- Had Lebanon gotten its political house in order in the 1960s, there would not have been a civil war, 150,000 deaths, 17,000 disappeared, hundred of thousands of immigrants.
- Had the parents of Hassan Nasrallah sent him to AUB, he would have been the CEO of Sukleen.

Lebanon needs an importanat sect deprogramming program.

More fantasy from King Rat. Had Hezbollah not intervened in Syria, the Assad Regime would have fallen long ago and the incubation time needed for the ISIS cancer to fester would have been substantially reduced so that the moderate FSA would have taken control of the country.
Hezbollah and the IRG's intervention in Syria has prolonged the war and made possible the creation of the ISIS militia which grew as a reaction to the Shia intervention in Syria.

LAF I presume refers to the Lebanese Armed Forces, and no they were not getting chopped to pieces in Syria, they were not in Syria. They have done a credible job in Lebanon given the fact that they have to compete with Hezbollah for men and weapons.

Now, ISIS is a major problem. They have taken gold from the banks in Iraq to the tune of over 250 million dollars and have access to oil fields from which they are surreptitiously selling oil. So now the Sunni cancer has a blood supply, it has a money line to give it life. Now Hezbollah has created its own worst enemy. A twin matched equal to Shia fundamentalism, ISIS is Sunni fundamentalism brought to life.
Now that the players have arisen, the region is ripe for Sunni-Shia sectarian warfare. This, Nasrallah is what you have created for Lebanon, not a safe zone, but a hellish warzone.

Roary, the LAF was doing just fine. It conducted itself well at Nahr el Barid against the precursor to ISIS that Assad sent over to create problems in Tripoli after the Syrian Army departed Lebanon. The security situation at Arsal and other Sunni towns along the border did not get difficult until after Hezbollah intervened in the Syrian War and then Hezbollah interfered with the Army's ability to carry out its duties.
When Hezbollah's intervention caused the Syrian Opposition to plant car bombs in Dahiyeh, who came in to restore security but the LAF and ISF of the Lebanese Government. You guys and your revisionist history. If you want to debate Roary, you are entitled to your opinions, but not to your own set of facts. Facts are facts and you and I can have differing opinions of what they mean, but we have to have the same set of facts.

Therein, it is documented that the party most responsible for the creation of ISIS was none other than Bashar al Assad, the erstwhile ally of Hassan Nasrallah and Hezbollah. Assad nurtured these guys and sent them to Iraq to fight the US when it was there, and to discredit the FSA once the Uprising started in Syria. ISIS works in collaboration with the Assad Regime in smuggling oil among other things.
