Geagea Prefers Vacuum over Hizbullah Rule, Says Hariri's Return Not Linked to Aoun

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea preferred a presidential vacuum over Hizbullah's rule, saying his ally in the March 14 alliance ex-PM Saad Hariri would not accept a deal to elect Free Patriotic Movement chief Michel Aoun as a consensual president in return for taking the helm of the new cabinet.
In an interview with pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat published on Saturday, Geagea said: “We wouldn't have much options if there was vacuum … We would either hold onto our stances or surrender the country to Hizbullah and its allies.”
“Vacuum is easier,” he said, adding “I prefer (that we suffer from) some difficult days rather than surrender Lebanon to Hizbullah.”
The LF chief, who is the only March 14 candidate for the elections, accused the Hizbullah-led March 8 alliance of causing a vacuum in the country's top Christian post.
The alliance's members, except for lawmakers from Speaker Nabih Berri's bloc, have been boycotting the parliamentary sessions aimed at electing a head of state.
A new round is set for next Thursday.
In a similar criticism of the alliance, Geagea told the LF annual dinner in Sydney, Australia via Skype on Friday that March 8's political program is aimed at "weakening the Republic."
Asked about reports that his rival Aoun could be a consensus candidate that would see the return of Hariri to Beirut to head the new government, Geagea said: “Hariri's return is not in Aoun's hands.”
“Hariri has the biggest Sunni bloc in Lebanon. Had there been a settlement (proposal), he would have taken anything from it,” the LF leader told the newspaper.
Geagea reiterated that he was ready to pull his candidacy if there was a deal on another March 14 official to become the country's next president.
“If there is another candidate, who has the same program that I have suggested, and the other camp accepts him, then I am willing to discuss the matter,” he said.
“For me, the issue is not personal at all. My candidacy has an objective and serves a vision,” he added.
Geagea cited Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel and MP Butros Harb as potential March 14 candidates, saying they have programs similar to his.

no president appointed by anyone except the Lebanese
popular vote is the way to stop outside interference in presidential elections and also the sterile debate of our so called political parties
which each of them follow different outside countries
power to the people
god bless democracy

Actually most of his alliance voted for him ... Loool @ "this means that not even lebanese people want him as president " ... Ur a fool, lebanese people can't vote for the president so u can't know what the lebanese people want

Parra eels - lol where's ur candidate ? He hasn't been appointed yet by Assad ? Nasrallah ? Or khomeiniyi?
Are they too busy watching the NRL? I doubt it

I don't understand anything you said man, what made you think I was offended by you? And I don't get this "r" you seem to be very fond of, what's that supposed to mean? Please do enlighten me, I honestly don't get you.

I'm also interested in this "r"
Is this the code word for something ?

burro, where on that level of yours would you place calling someone "stone age Neanderthal"?
/v\...

burro, I know that you don't understand anything that's precisely why I got you the extra "r", and you're welcome.

Lol
When u have some parts of lebanese society supporting a militia and their stupid ideology then how can we build the country

We can't, that's what I have been saying, what is the point of all the insults and the defamation, I mean can anyone tell me please what is that a president can do to solve anything? Just name one thing please I beg you to name one thing that ANY president can do on his own to solve ONE of your problems.

Right .Mehdi, without any r's or hidden insults, let's clear things. If I may kindly first let you know that thankfully we don't have any incest in my family, none that I know of anyway, and we don't grow or smoke any hashish or other drugs for that matter. That being said, let's move to the part where I am thought to have insulted you by calling you a stone age Neanderthal, you have expressed an opinion in which you stated that you refuse the way of life of more than half the population, and that opinion, if it is yours, belongs in the stone age and whoever carries it is a Neanderthal. If I misunderstood what you have said, I apologize, if not, I stand by my opinion, not insult.

Spin what? Seriously, what are you on about? And no puppet, if I don't like the comments I don't leave, we all have opinions, and we are all entitled to them, make a no difference if we like them or not, and if you don't like my comment so what, I ask you to leave? I mean what made you type such a meaningless reply? What is the purpose of what you typed? And what am I preaching? And what the hell is a fly by night preacher? Where do you come up with this stuff?

Sorry I don't get it. I was beginning to respect this guys when he ran for presidency and actually thought he could bring all Lebanese together but on the other hand this guys is worse than Bin Laden. How could you possibly act with such selfishness, narrow-minded, ignorance and rigidness against one of the largest political party's and major sect in the country? How in the world could you possibly be wanting to run for President when you act this way against a political party? Just like Maronites rely on you Awwat party to survive so do many people from the Beirut, the south and east of Lebanon let alone other parts of the country. You should be sent back to jail for your mere fanatical attitude as there is no room for such in Lebanon let alone amongst 21st century leaders. You simply proved to the Lebanese you are a rogue element and a disgrace to Maronites and other Christians even.

Furthermore, what community do you think I belong to? I feel sorry for anyone that has to live in a community like that wherever they are and whoever they are.

Sure parraeels, there is no need to worry about Assad's stooges & the Ayatollah's militia after all being occupied by the Axis of Resistance is a pleasure.
"This means that not even the lebanese people want him as president"... when exactly did the Lebanese people vote?

Full-of-it, as usual Aoun and Hizbullah sabotaged the proceedings... blank valets, no shows & no candidate. When is Aoun going to send the national Son-in-Law back to Hariri for some more courting? It must be terrible for the old Lunatic to go begging after all the accusations he made about Hariri over the years.

ya phoenix... do tell why you were disciplined and fired by the lebanese forces. I am sure it was not just misconduct. Come clean or finish writing that book and clear your conscience. I wait

So bringing it back up a level, what are you expecting from the president? Does anyone actually have any aspirations as to what they want the president to do? Be it geagea or aoun or Tom cruise, what are the changes you expect? Seriously, I am not trying to mock anyone, I'm trying to understand the importance of this presidency and why is it so hard to make it happen

Don't think your HA is strong or your sect is strong, the only reason your people can stop anything is because of the traitor Christians FPM that sold their sect and country to your terror party. But don't worry your days are numbered and FPM will be bought by others. Now comment on Australian news and stay away from our country.

so this is it? nobody can actually answer what do they expect from their man other than actually sitting on the chair? you are all insulting everyone just to see your man sitting on a chair? nobody expects anything? will somebody please convince me there is still hope and tell me what they expect

I wish somebody would just state an opinion rather than an insult, an idea rather than a defamation. You are all nice people, and you all have respected families I am sure, some of you might have kids and some might be kids themselves. Whenever you are addressing somebody please take a moment and think if you would be proud if your kid wrote that, or if you would be proud if your mother saw what you wrote. You all have valuable ideas that are hidden behind so much hate that is blinding you from the truth.

orio not that it's any of my business but do you think that profile picture of yours might have had anything to do with it? Of course it is not fair to ban anybody for stating an opinion and being honest, the forum has rules evidently and as long as you abide by them I can't see why would you be banned.

pathetic bond....do u also believe in ian fleming's character and think that it is simple math and reality that he is indestructible and cheat death and fly with an underwater amphibious car?.....grow up habboub and smell the flowers shaklak fahmein da77esh or maybe these idea da7ashulak yehoun bala ma3na!!!

@full-disclosure, funny thing hypocrisy, those that are the hypocrites don't admit to it nor do they see their own hypocrisy. It was Geagea was it not? that extended his hand to all parties and presented them with his presidential program, All but HA accepted his requests clearly illustrating not only their contempt for any opposing view but their distaste at entering into any meaningful dialogue. This contempt then transpired into obstructing the electoral process time and time again, their objectives clear in that they desire vacum and chaos. However M8 were mysteriously silent on this, But heaven forbid someone should challenge this filthy un Lebanese militia as clearly we saw their true colours when Sulmein spoke the truth. Now we see Geagea call it like it really is, HA are un Lebanese and as long as they hold onto their weapons they do not enjoy the right to be in politics.

I heard PfiZer is financing nahar to conduct experiments on citizens and aliens want to take over burger king.
