Brahimi: 'No List' so Far of Participants in Syria Talks
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe list of participants for a long-awaited Syria peace conference scheduled for January 22 has yet to be established, U.N. and Arab League mediator Lakhdar Brahimi said Monday.
Pressed on who might take part in the so-called Geneva II talks, announced Monday, Brahimi said: "We haven't established a list yet."
There has been widespread speculation over whether Iran, a key ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad, and leading opposition backer Saudi Arabia will take part.
"These two countries will certainly be among the possible participants," Brahimi said.
