Syrian Trucks Come under Fire in Tripoli, Driver Wounded

A driver was injured on Monday when several Syrian trucks came under fire in the northern city of Tripoli, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said Zakaria al-Basha, one of the drivers, was wounded in the dawn shooting that took place while his truck was passing under the pedestrian bridge in Tripoli's al-Tabbaneh area.

But the driver continued his way and reached al-Mina where the Red Cross took him to al-Salam hospital, the agency added.

The trucks were transporting phosphate.

Syria-bound trucks have come under attack in recent months mainly in Bab al-Tabbaneh, where residents staunchly support the uprising in the neighboring country.

Earlier this year, residents blocked the international highway in the northern town of Arida to prevent fuel tanker trucks from crossing into Syria.

The protesters argue that the fuel is destined to the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad to kill the Syrian people.

Yah lot of things to see in Tripoli especially when you re visiting the souk and someone shout at you for being a heretic.

Never happened to me, visiting lebanon from North to South elsewhere but in Tripoli. Tripoli sounds more like Kaboul then somewhere in Lebanon

Missing peace 25 November 2013, 15:11

well in dahiye they say sunnis are impure... visiting dahiye is like visiting qom....

Missing peace 25 November 2013, 12:18

like dahiye... mainly built on lands stolen from the gvt.... let us take it back then and make it legal ! LOL

Actually Dahiyeh is pretty popular, lots of tourism and it's right by the airport. I never heard of tourists going to Traplous? Haha good that they never did, because they would be mistaking it for a Afghan City

Missing peace 25 November 2013, 12:39

lots of tourists go to tripoli... you are mistaken; lots of things to see and visit, but it seems you never been there....

actually been in Tripoli plently of times, but always problems overthere army checkpoints everywhere. I wouldn't put it as an exotic city, more like a war zone.

Thumb LebCynic 25 November 2013, 12:03

There must be some kind of mistake,,, according to M14 bab-tebeneh don't have any weapons and their not harbouring criminals from Syria.

Rebels blocked Damascus-Homs highway and burnt Homs oil refinery so Bashar needs oil for his tanks. Oil prices are rocketing in Damascus. Warning to all drivers should be given not transport oil the tyrant or any offending truck shall be intercepted and burnt...
That's what I call lebanese sunni pro-active application of the term : DISSOCIATION.

Thumb Mystic 25 November 2013, 17:29

Thumb souk-el-gharb 25 November 2013, 17:38

Thumb cedre 26 November 2013, 11:39

well most sunnis are fed up with ur qomi resistance and its blackmail.
Christians as well getting pretty tired of being accommodating with hizbiran terrorists, so lets wait next elections...

Thumb Mystic 26 November 2013, 15:32

actually cedre, christians are rather sick and tired of watching their brother christians getting beheaded by your beloved Al Qaeda in Syria.

Thumb cedre 26 November 2013, 20:36

well, i think christians are clever enough to know for who those takfiris were working before in Iraq and Lebanon. Takfiris and extremists are khomeynists best friends/pretexts.
