Geagea Denies Baabda Palace Rebuke
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةLebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea denied that he had received a phone call from Baabda palace admonishing him for a stance that he had made lately.
In remarks to An Nahar daily from southern France, where he is vacationing with his wife, Geagea said that such a phone conversation did not take place.
In response to a question that he rejected to attend a dinner banquet that President Michel Suleiman threw in Amsheet on Saturday, the LF leader denied that he wasn’t there over the alleged phone conversation.
The dinner was a social event and it wasn’t necessary that he sends a delegate, he said.
Geagea’s remarks came a day after media reports said that the LF chief was upset after Suleiman rebuked him over a verbal attack on Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun and the presidency.
This man committed many crimes against the people of Amshit, especially the disapearance of Karam case, which still unsolved. Geagea is just like Aoun and other Lebanese leaders who remain at large without being convicted for their war crime against Lebanese.
yeah. of all the lebanese leaders that were involved in the war, geagea was the only one who didn't serve any time in prison. each and every single one of the others went to court and had trials. and they all served time in prison because of what they did in the war. or did i get it backwards? not according to muhamad!
@Muhamad WHAT IS WRONG WITH U???? every single person involved in the Lebanese Civil war commited crimes - not only Geagea. FURTHERMORE, GEAGEA WAS THE ONLY PERSON TO STAY TRUE TO HIS BELIEFS AND HE REMAINED AGAINST THE SYRIAN TUTELAGE OVER LEBANON, AND BECAUSE OF THIS HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON TO SPEND TIIME IN PRISON FOR WAR CRIMES THAT MANY BELIEVE HE DID NOT COMMITT. He spent years in solitary confinement for crimes that he was proved not guilty on. Geagea is the only decent politician in Lebanon today, because he never ever strayed from his beliefs and he always represented the Christian community in Lebanon
What Lebanon really needs is a new set of young leaders who have not been involved in any wrong doings and whose hands are "clean" from any blood or corruption. Leaders who place the citizens' interests above all interests. The only way to build a nation, is when each citizen understands what his interests are regardless of his/her religious or political affiliations, and works towards achieving this goal. This could never be achieved with our current political leaders, whoever they are...
Lol, 'vacationing!' More like kissing his master, Saad's, A@@!!! ONE WAY TICKET TO ALL YOU CORRUPT BABOONS!
GB, you hit the nail on the head. that would be a perfect scenario. but unfortunately, things like that don't happen in places like lebanon. political positions are either inherited or taken by force. and these methods aren't compatible with young, educated, brilliant, forward thinkers. so we're stuck with what we have. all we can do is vote for the least damaging politician who has the brains to adapt to running a peaceful country instead of a war state. we all have a chance to change things in the 2013 elections, but you wait and see. they'll just vote for the same old people. they'll just shuffle them around. lebanese elections = lebanese musical chairs!
@GB
Wake up! Each time one of those emerge they kill him! Do I really need to give names...
This is the real revolution for change to get all these war criminals out, Lebanon is more safe without them and Lebanese peope as well.
Why we have to allow other war criminals to hijack our nation like Aoun, Geagea and Hezboshaitan Nassralah. It is their leadership who put Lebanon in the wrong place and Lebanese abroad in thousands. It is the power of truth for change, by kicking them out of office for ever, by talking about their crimes and not hiddng it, if we really care about our future.
Let me tell you that his men commited the crimes for him and his interest for the power. I am not saying that the rest are free, they all need to be brought to justice if we want to build bettr future and state of justice, not a state of terrorism and war crimes to remain in power
I am sure there are many good Lebanese forces men to be in charge other than this Geagea, why you are so crazy about him. I understand the fact that many other leaders need to be brought to justice, lets talk about it and ask the government to move forward with this project and not protecting each one of them, just like using a patch for a deep political mold, which will not solve the problem it will make much worst.
Mohammad ... I was shocked that someone still is logical about the situation in lebanon - and that is if you have committed a crime you should be punished for it whoever you may be ! However, to just realized that i was shocked that one person is thinking in a logical pattern made me sad - I recently left this country they call Lebanon I have no intent of going back; the majority are like James, leb and 'someone' that wrote in this forum. I choose not to live with uneducated people as such ... and I suggest you do the same !
We have all lost family, and life and i am not willing to lose another second in that trashcan they call lebanon
How about the Nabih Berri. Isn't he a big war criminal too? Or is he just hiding his crimes behind his position as parliament head?
