Valencia has signed veteran Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani on a two-year contract.

The 35-year-old Cavani had been without a club since his contract with Manchester United expired at the end of last season.

Argentina defender Cristian Romero has signed a permanent contract to remain with Tottenham until 2027, the English Premier League club said on Tuesday.

Romero joined on a season-long loan from Italian team Atalanta in August last year and has established himself as a key member of Tottenham's defense as well as a popular player among the London club's fan base.

Bernardo Silva will be staying at Manchester City, manager Pep Guardiola said Friday, seemingly bringing to an end a summer of uncertainty over the Portugal midfielder's future.

Silva has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, with Guardiola saying this week that the player "likes Barcelona a lot" and previously saying he doesn't want to keep players at City if they are unhappy.

And Bayern won 3-0 home and away against Barcelona in the group stage last season as the Spanish giant without Messi had its worse European season since before the Argentina great's 17-year run in the team.

Brandon Vazquez and FC Cincinnati agreed Thursday to a contract extension through the 2025 season, a deal that includes an option for 2026.

The 23-year-old forward has a career-best 15 league goals this season, tied for third in Major League Soccer with Dallas' Jesús Ferreira and one behind Austin's Sebastián Driussi and Nashville's Hany Mukhtar.

More than 91,000 fans were at the Camp Nou for the match, with the proceeds going to help raise funds for research against ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, an incurable neurodegenerative disorder.

World Cup-winning France defender Samuel Umtiti will prepare for this year's tournament in Italy instead of Barcelona after moving on loan to Lecce.

Barcelona said Thursday the newly promoted Serie A club had taken Umtiti for one season with no option to buy.
