Spain's 10-Year Borrowing Rate Dips to 2005 Level

Spain's interest rate for borrowing 10-year funds fell below 3.0 percent on Friday for the first time since 2005, in a further sign that the eurozone debt crisis is fading.

On the secondary market, where debt already issued is traded, the interest rate or yield indicated by the rising value of the bonds fell to 2.996 percent briefly during morning trading, but then rose to 3.0 percent.

140 Migrants Storm Border Fence in Spain's Melilla

More than a hundred people stormed the fence between Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Melilla on Thursday, officials said, in the latest attempt by migrants to breach the border.

The early-morning surge of 500 people "ended with 140 immigrants of sub-Saharan origin entering national territory," according to a statement from Spanish officials in the city.

Spain Economic Recovery 'Gathering Pace'

Spain's economic recovery will gather pace this year but unemployment is set to remain above 20 percent until 2017, according to government predictions Wednesday.

Economy Minister Luis de Guindos said Spain's economy should grow by 1.2 percent in 2014 and 1.8 percent in 2015 as the country recovers from a double-dip recession that ended late last year and destroyed millions of jobs. The growth figures were upwardly revised from the previous predictions of 0.7 percent and 1.5 percent.

Four Confirmed Dead as Spain Finds Missing Helicopter

A military helicopter that crashed into the sea near the Canary Islands was found Sunday with the bodies of its four missing crew members inside, the Spanish government said.

The Super Puma helicopter, which crashed while practicing a routine rescue operation, was found by a deep-diving robot in the early hours of the morning at a depth of more than 2,300 meters (7,500 feet), Spain's defense ministry said in a statement.
