Israel Complains to U.N., Says Hizbullah Carrying Out 'Double War Crime'

Israel has filed a complaint with the United Nations after a rocket attack from southern Lebanon and the killing of a soldier in a cross-border shooting.

In the letter of complaint to U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon and the Security Council, Israel’s ambassador Ron Prosor wrote that "the lack of leadership in Lebanon allows Hizbullah to operate against Israel and destabilize the region."

Qahwaji Warns Army Ready to Respond to Any Aggression

Army Commander Gen. Jean Qahwaji warned on Monday that the military would respond in case the country is subjected to an Israeli military attack.

U.N.: Up to 500 Dead in South Sudan Clashes

Clashes between rival army factions in South Sudan have left up to 500 dead and 800 wounded, a top U.N. official told the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday.

The United Nations has been told by local hospitals that between 400 and 500 people have been killed in South Sudan's capital since Sunday, U.N. peacekeeping chief Herve Ladsous told the council, according to diplomats who attended a private briefing with him.

Lebanese Soldier Reports for Duty after Deadly Border Shooting

A Lebanese soldier, who went missing after a shooting on an Israeli army unit on Sunday night, has returned to his post, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA and Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) said that the soldier reported to duty in Naqoura on Monday morning after hiding in a bush throughout the night.

U.N. Report Concludes Chemical Weapons Used in Syria

Chemical weapons have been used at least five times during the Syrian conflict and in some cases children have been slaughtered, according to a U.N. report released Thursday.

The report cites "credible evidence" and "evidence consistent with the probable use of chemical weapons" in the Syrian sites of Ghouta, Khan Al Asal, Jobar, Saraqueb and Ashrafieh Sahnaya.

Africa Presses for Security Council Vote to Suspend Kenya Trial
