Asiri Lashes Out at Syrian Ambassador over Arms Ship Allegations

Saudi ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Asiri lashed back at the head of the Syrian mission, Ali Abdul Karim Ali, for accusing Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries of arming the Syrian rebels and being responsible for the Syria-destined weapons shipment recently intercepted by Lebanese army.

“With all the respect I have for my colleague ambassador Ali Abdul Karim, I am surprised by his hasty statements in which he accused (Gulf) countries without any evidence,” the Saudi ambassador said in a statement.

Saudi Says Iran Attitude on Gulf Islands 'Unacceptable'

Saudi Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz has described as "unacceptable" Iran's attitude towards three islands under its control which Gulf Cooperation Council member UAE claims it owns, a report said.

"I reiterate the kingdom's condemnation to the unacceptable attitude of neighboring Iran that continues to ignore the legitimate right of the United Arab Emirates over its three occupied islands," said Prince Nayef, who is also Saudi Arabia's interior minister.

Lieberman Hopes Syrian Crisis Won’t Affect Lebanon, Slams Lack of Support for Opposition

U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman hoped on Wednesday that the conflict in Syria would not reach Lebanon and criticized the region’s countries for “not doing enough” to support the Syrian opposition.

Egyptian security services foiled an Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Cairo several months ago, the legal advisor of the kingdom's embassy said in local dailies on Tuesday.

Egypt "arrested three Iranians planning to assassinate the ambassador, Ahmed Qattan," Al-Hayat quoted Sami Jamal as saying.

Saudi Executes 2 Bangladeshi Men for Murder, Stealing

Saudi Arabia beheaded on Tuesday two Bangladeshis convicted of killing and robbing a fellow citizen in the kingdom, the interior ministry announced.

Nujum Abdulshrif and Abdulmajed Hamza killed Mohammed Kabir, also Bangladeshi, the state news agency SPA reported quoting the ministry.

Army Detains Iraqi Woman Linked to Abduction of Two Saudis

The Lebanese army announced on Monday that an Iraqi woman, who was a complicit in the kidnapping of two Saudi nationals in Lebanon, was detained.

“The army intelligence bureau arrested Batoul Darwish Habib al-Mansouri, who confessed to luring (the Saudis) into an apartment in Doha al-Hoss (in southern Beirut) to financially blackmail them,” said a communique issued by the army.

Saudi F-15 Warplane Crashes, Pilot Safe

A Saudi Arabian F-15 warplane has crashed during a training mission in the northwest of the kingdom, but its pilot was able to eject and was safe, the official SPA news agency reported on Sunday.

The aircraft went down on Saturday in the Tabuk region, the agency said, adding that an investigation had begun to determine the cause of the crash.
