Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea criticized the March 8 forces on Saturday for discrediting the case against four Hizbullah members in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s murder and hinted that the suspects had acted under orders from the party leadership.

The evidence provided by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon prosecutor in the indictment draws question marks on the role of Hizbullah, Syria and Iran in Hariri’s Feb. 2005 assassination, Geagea said at a press conference he held in Maarab.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Thursday stressed that “today we are before a momentous event which is the publishing of the first part of the indictment in the murder case of ex-PM Rafik Hariri and all the martyrs of the Cedar Revolution.”

During a meeting with a delegation of Lebanese expatriates living in America, Australia, Africa, Europe and the Gulf, Geagea added: “It was really a historic day … the Lebanese people -- through a persistent struggle that cost it a lot of efforts, tears and bloodshed, especially between 2005-2009 – was able to launch the process of fulfilling justice.”

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stressed on Wednesday the Palestinian people’s right to return to their homeland, which is a position shared by the Lebanese state and Palestinian Authority.

He made his statement after holding talks with visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

President Michel Suleiman is scheduled to travel to Monaco on Thursday on a four-day official visit, al-Liwaa daily reported.

The newspaper also said that Suleiman held separate talks with Hizbullah MP Mohammed Raad and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea after the Iftar banquet he threw in honor of politicians and clergymen last Thursday.

Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea stated on Thursday that the meetings at the Justice Palace demonstrate that former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s assassination is linked to the assassination attempts against former ministers Marwan Hamadeh and Elias Murr and ex-LBCI anchorwoman May Chidiac.

Meetings were held on Thursday between General Prosecutor Saeed Mirza and a Special Tribunal for Lebanon delegation with Murr, Hamadeh, and Chidiac.

U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Michael Williams on Wednesday underlined “the importance of maintaining stability and also of protecting (U.N.) Security Council Resolution 1701.”

“We believe that this (UNSCR 1701) has brought stability to Lebanon in the years since 2006 and must be maintained in the face of the many challenges,” Williams added, following talks with Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea in Maarab.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea advised former Premier Saad Hariri to remain abroad over security fears and described Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat as Master Sergeant Hans Georg Schultz of an American TV sitcom.

Schultz was known in the Hogan's Heroes sitcom of simply looking the other way, repeating "I hear nothing, I see nothing, I know nothing!"

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea criticized on Thursday Lebanon’s decision to disassociate itself from the United Nations Security Council statement condemning the violence against protests in Syria.

He told Voice of Lebanon radio: “Something must be wrong in Lebanon when 14 out of 15 countries voted in favor of the statement, especially when these countries included Russia, Brazil China, and others of different ideologies.”

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi has invited Lebanon’s top Maronite leaders to Bkirki on August 25 for talks on the new electoral law, An Nahar daily reported Tuesday.

The newspaper said that the expected event would be the second meeting between Phalange leader Amin Gemayel, Free Patriotic Movement chief Michel Aoun, Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea and Marada movement head Suleiman Franjieh since the talks they held in Bkirki in April.

President Michel Suleiman discussed with Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea at Baabda palace on Monday his invitation to resume the national dialogue.

Suleiman agreed with Geagea to keep contact at this critical stage, An Nahar newspaper reported on Tuesday.
