Palestinian Cars Vandalized in East Jerusalem

Unknown attackers vandalized Palestinian cars in east Jerusalem early on Monday, slashing tires and spraying pro-settler Hebrew graffiti on the vehicles, in the latest apparent hate crime, Israeli police said.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said the incident took place in the Shuafat neighborhood of east Jerusalem, and that nine cars were affected.

Vandals Trash Cars at Arab-Jewish 'Peace Oasis'

Vandals overnight slashed car tires and sprayed graffiti at a mixed Arab-Jewish community west of Jerusalem in an attack which bore the hallmarks of an act of settler revenge.

An Agence France Presse journalist said cars in the village of Neve Shalom/Wahat al Salam or Oasis of Peace were sprayed with slogans including "Death to the Arabs" and "Revenge" in Hebrew.

France Urges Israeli PM Drop Plans for New Settler Homes

France on Thursday condemned Israeli plans to expand a West Bank settlement by 300 homes and urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to follow through with their construction.

"We call on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to abstain from implementing these plans. We recall that colonization in all its forms is illegal under international law, undermines the two-state solution at ground level and is an obstacle to peace," foreign ministry spokesman Bernard Valero said.

Israeli Settlers Begin Protest March to Jerusalem

Hundreds of young settlers began marching from a West Bank outpost to Jerusalem on Monday to protest against plans to raze five homes built on private Palestinian land.

Around 400 flag-waving demonstrators joined the march, which began at the so-called Ulpana neighborhood on the edge of the Beit El settlement, and was to end in Jerusalem on Tuesday evening, with a mass rally outside parliament planned for Wednesday, organizers said.

The Israeli military carried out air strikes on Gaza overnight, injuring one Palestinian, after a rocket was fired at southern Israel, the army and Palestinian medical sources said on Monday.

Israel Begins Handing over Remains of 91 Militants

Israel on Thursday began handing over the bodies of 91 Palestinians who were killed during anti-Israeli attacks, some of whom died over 40 years ago, officials on both sides said.

The transfer began before dawn on Thursday when Israel formally gave the bodies to the Palestinians at a location near the West Bank city of Jericho, with 79 of them immediately transferred to Ramallah, and the other 12 sent to Gaza.
