OPEC Concerned Over Oil Price, Market Behavior

Kuwait's Oil Minister Hani Hussein said on Monday that oil producing countries are concerned over the drop in oil prices and the "strange" behavior of the oil market.

"Some of the (OPEC) members are concerned about the prices and what's happening," in the oil market after crude prices dropped more than 20 percent during the past two months, Hussein told reporters.

Kuwaiti Lawmaker: Ex-PM Shunned Parliament Probe Again

Kuwait's ex-premier, Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has refused for the second time to appear before a parliamentary panel probing graft allegations against him, an official said on Sunday.

"The former prime minister's rejection of the summons by the parliamentary probe committee is a disregard for the Kuwaiti people and its constitutional institutions," head of the panel and lawmaker Faisal al-Muslim said on his Twitter account.

Report: Dozens of Kuwaitis Fighting with FSA in Syria

Dozens of Kuwaitis are fighting with the rebel Free Syrian Army (FSA) after crossing from Turkey, the Gulf emirate's al-Qabas newspaper reported on Sunday, citing the fighters' relatives.

The daily said that "dozens of Kuwaitis have crossed the Turkish-Syrian border with the aim of fighting alongside the FSA against Syrian regime forces."

Kuwait Tweeter Gets 10 Years for Prophet Insult

A lower court in Kuwait sentenced a Shiite tweeter to 10 years in jail on Monday on charges of insulting Islam's Prophet Mohammed, his wife Aisha and companions, his lawyer Khaled al-Shatti said.

"We plan to challenge the ruling against my client Hamad al-Naqi in the appeals court and we are very optimistic that the higher court will cancel the sentence," Shatti told AFP.
