PSP, Hizbullah Deny Military Deployment in Mount Lebanon

Hizbullah and the Progressive Socialist Party denied on Tuesday local and Arab media reports that the latter had deployed security and military units in some areas of Mount Lebanon aimed at destabilizing the ties between the two parties.

Explosion Rocks Shiyyah as Vehicle Goes on Fire

A loud blast shook the neighborhood of Shiyyah in Beirut’s southern suburbs at dawn Monday, which the National News Agency said was the result of the explosion of a vehicle that suffered a technical malfunction.

Hizbullah and Amal members threw a security dragnet at the blast scene shortly after the explosion was heard at around 2:20 a.m., NNA said.

Qassem: Resistance Will Pursue its Project, Ignoring Protests against it

Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem accused on Sunday the Mustaqbal movement of being a militia, saying that it does not want to recognize Lebanon as a country of diverse sects.

Clash Erupts as Anti, Pro-Assad Protesters Stage Rival Demos in Hamra

A clash erupted Thursday outside the Syrian embassy in Beirut’s Hamra district between protesters belonging to the Jamaa Islamiya and supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, state-run National News Agency reported.

“A number of citizens had called for a rally outside the embassy’s building at 6:30 pm in solidarity with the Syrian people,” NNA added, noting that security forces immediately intervened to break up the brawl.

Hizbullah Says March 14 Trying to Implicate U.N. in 'Rumors, Lies'

Hizbullah said Wednesday that the March 14 general-secretariat “has ignored the statement issued by the U.N., which denied accusing” the party of being involved in Syria’s violence, noting that “this group did not settle for the fabrication of rumors and lies, but also tried to implicate the U.N. and its organizations in them.”

“Hizbullah does not usually comment on the statements issued by the March 14 general-secretariat because the content is repetitive, well-known and boring,” the party said in a communiqué.
