A group suspected of links to al-Qaida warned Friday that all areas of Lebanon where Hizbullah operates are "legitimate targets" for attack, urging Sunnis to avoid them.

"We, al-Nusra Front in Lebanon, announce that Iran's party (Hizbullah) and all its bases and... bastions are legitimate targets for us, wherever they are," the group said in a statement posted on the Internet.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour stressed on Wednesday that Hizbullah's interference in Syria is not the problem, pointing out that the region's upheaval is cause by the presence of terrorist ideologies.

"Those claiming that what is happening in Syria is a result of Hizbullah's involvement in the war want to divert attention from the fact that there are foreign terrorist groups in the region,” Mansour said during his participation at the Syria peace talks in Switzerland's Geneva.

Salafist cleric Sheikh Salem al-Rafehi accused on Monday the Arab Democratic Party of being behind the latest round of clashes in the northern city of Tripoli.

He added after a meeting of Muslim scholars in light of the new round of unrest: “The state is protecting Ali and Rifaat Eid and allowing them to launch attacks in the city.”

East Arsal was the area that targeted several Bekaa regions with rockets, the Lebanese Army Command said in a communique issued on Saturday.

The army pointed out that a “specialized army commission estimated that the shelling on Arsal, Ras Baalbek and Fakiha areas came from east Arsal.”

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea described on Saturday remarks by ex-Prime Minister Saad Hariri regarding the cabinet formation process as a “good will gesture,” stressing that his party will not participate in any cabinet that doesn't include “the slightest political change.”

“Hariri's statements are considered a good will gesture and not an agreement on including the army, people, resistance formula in the new cabinet's ministerial statement,” Geagea said in a press conference in Maarab.

Hizbullah International Relations official Ammar Moussawi held talks on Friday with a French presidential aide in Beirut, months after the European Union listed the party's military wing as a terrorist organization.

Hizbullah said Moussawi discussed regional and local developments with Emmanuel Bonne, French President Francois Hollande's adviser for Middle East affairs.

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Friday announced that he is showing positivity in the cabinet formation process, noting that Hizbullah is a political party that is leading a “big coalition.”

“We are positive regarding the cabinet formation process. This is something good for the country and for stability in the country,” Hariri said in an interview.

Two suspects in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri are in Iran while the rest “have been killed,” the German news magazine Der Spiegel reported on Wednesday.

"Western intelligence agencies believe that the two prime suspects in Hariri's assassination are in Iran,” Der Spiegel said.

Washington on Tuesday hit out at Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for laying a wreath of flowers on the tomb of slain Hizbullah military commander Imad Mughniyeh during his latest visit to Beirut.

“The United States condemns the decision taken by Zarif ... to place a wreath at the grave of Imad Mughniyeh, a former leader of Lebanese Hizbullah responsible for heinous acts of terrorism that killed hundreds of innocent people, including Americans,” U.S. National Security Council Spokesperson Caitlin Hayden said in a statement.

Hizbullah International Relations official Ammar Moussawi has recently met with several ambassadors of western countries to discuss the cabinet's formation and the security situation in the country, the Central News Agency reported on Thursday.

"Several meetings were held recently between political foes in the country,” CNA said.
