Bacall, who died Tuesday in New York at age 89, seemed to live in black and white. Her slinky sultriness rose like an apparition from the dark shadows of 1940s film noir, her leopard-like eyes beaming from the dark, her smoky voice oozing wisdom beyond her years from the very start.

Hollywood was plunged into mourning for the second time in as many days Wednesday after golden age icon Lauren Bacall, who lit up the silver screen in a series of classic movies opposite her husband Humphrey Bogart, died aged 89.

"With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall," the Bogart estate confirmed in a brief statement on Twitter.

Celine Dion has indefinitely halted all her show business activity and canceled her upcoming Asia tour to care for her husband as he battles ill health, the superstar said Wednesday.

I’ve been trying really hard to be positive about Jonathan Liebesman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I genuinely wanted to love this movie, and did my best to ignore all the negative buzz surrounding it. But while the flick does manage to deliver moments of genuine fun, it’s simply too generic and lazy to stand out in a summer that’s given us some truly incredible science-fiction/superhero blockbusters. Maybe the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy totally killed it last week unfairly raised my expectations for TMNT, but either way, it could (and should) have been better.
