An Al-Jazeera journalist on retrial in Egypt has sued his Qatari employer for $100 million, his lawyers said on Monday, claiming the satellite network was negligent and supported blacklisted Islamists.

Canadian Mohamed Fahmy and two other Al-Jazeera journalists were sentenced last year to up to 10 years in prison on charges of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood movement in its coverage of mass protests that led to the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.

Gaza Truck Driver Hit by Gunfire from Egypt

A Palestinian truck driver in the southern Gaza Strip was seriously wounded on Monday by gunfire from Egypt, medics said.

"A 27-year-old driver who was working at the Kerem Shalom crossing was seriously wounded on Monday morning by shots which were fired from the Egyptian side of the border," health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said.

Militants Set Off Bombs outside Egypt Judge's Home

Suspected militants set off three small bombs on Sunday outside the home of an Egyptian judge who sentenced Islamists to death, wounding four people and damaging the building, police said.

Judge Mutaz Khafagi, who had also sentenced Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Badie to life in prison, was in his first-floor apartment in the suburban Cairo building but was not injured in the explosions, a police official said.

Militants shot dead three Egyptian policeman and a retired officer in separate attacks in the capital of North Sinai, security officials said on Saturday.

Gunmen, suspected of belonging to the Islamic State group's affiliate in Egypt, shot dead two policemen in the town of El-Arish overnight Friday before fleeing in a vehicle, the officials said.

Egypt's Sisi Says Ethiopians 'Rescued' from Libya

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Egypt had "rescued" 27 Ethiopians from war-torn Libya, as state television showed him greeting the group at Cairo airport on Thursday.

It was not immediately clear how the Ethiopians were rescued, but Sisi's office said the group flown in on an Egyptian plane was "liberated by Egyptian and Libyan security services".

The Egyptian military Wednesday shot dead three Palestinian gunmen who infiltrated through a smuggling tunnel in the Sinai town of Rafah on the border with Gaza, security officials said.

One policeman was killed and five others wounded in clashes with supporters of Egypt's ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in a Nile Delta city, police said on Wednesday.

Clashes erupted late Tuesday when police arrested a group of Morsi supporters, including 13 women, who were demonstrating in a nightime rally in a key square in Damietta, around 50 kilometers (30 miles) west of Port Said.

Reports: Indonesia to Stop Sending Domestic Workers to Lebanon

Indonesia will stop sending new domestic workers to 21 Middle Eastern countries, including Lebanon, reports said Tuesday, after the recent execution of two Indonesian women in Saudi Arabia angered Jakarta.

Other countries affected by the ban are Saudi Arabia -- a major destination for Indonesian maids -- United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, Iran and Egypt.
