Egyptian police fired tear gas to break up clashes between supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi and residents of a central Cairo neighborhood, Agence France Presse correspondents said.

The clashes began when dozens of religious scholars affiliated with Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood entered the ministry of endowments and were ordered out by police, a security official said.

Islamist supporters of Egypt's deposed leader Mohammed Morsi planned new rallies on Friday as the interim premier suggested a crackdown on their protest camps was imminent.

Morsi supporters called for marches to begin after the Muslim Friday prayers at noon (around 1000 GMT) as the nation rested on the second day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

At least 15 people were killed on Monday night in a brawl between Cairo street vendors over space, including 13 who were burned to death, a security source told Agence France Presse.

The source said two people died of gunshot and stab wounds in an initial brawl in central Cairo, and 13 more were killed after the shop they took refuge in was set on fire.

A long-running sit-in in Cairo by supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi will be ended "in the framework of the law," Egypt's Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim said early Saturday.

In a telephone interview with satellite television station Al-Hayat, he was asked about the sit-in at Cairo's Rabaa al-Adawiya square.

Pressure grew Tuesday on Egypt's new leaders to release Mohamed Morsi from detention as clashes between supporters and opponents of the deposed Islamist president left 10 people dead.

The deadly clashes which also wounded dozens broke out on Monday, raged through the night and were continuing on Tuesday, a day after Morsi's family vowed to sue the military over his ouster.

Egyptian security forces arrested more than 400 supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi in one part of Cairo alone following deadly clashes overnight, a security source said on Tuesday.

The 401 arrests were all made in the central Ramses area, where two people were killed in late-night violence, the official MENA news agency quoted the security source as saying.

The United States on Wednesday ordered the mandatory evacuation of its embassy in Cairo, just hours after the Egyptian military ousted president Mohamed Morsi.

Asked if reports of the evacuation were true, a U.S. official told Agence France Presse "yes."

Close to 100 women have fallen victim to "rampant" sexual attacks in Cairo's Tahrir Square during four days of protests against Egypt's Islamist President Mohammed Morsi, Human Rights Watch said on Wednesday.

"Mobs sexually assaulted and in some cases raped at least 91 women in Tahrir Square... amid a climate of impunity," HRW, which is based in New York, said in a statement.

The Gulf state of Kuwait on Wednesday urged its citizens in Egypt to leave "at the earliest" and warned against travel to the country after President Mohammed Morsi rejected an ultimatum by the army, amid mass protests and deadly clashes.

"All Kuwaitis present in Egypt must leave at the earliest due to the developments and events in various parts of the country," the official KUNA news agency cited ambassador Rasheed al-Hamad as saying.
