San Lorenzo Wins Copa Libertadores for First Time

San Lorenzo of Argentina, Pope Francis' favorite team, defeated Paraguayan side Nacional 1-0 to win the Copa Libertadores title for the first time Wednesday.

Nestor Ortigoza converted a penalty in the 36th minute to give the club its first major international title in its 106-year history. It clinched the title 2-1 on aggregate. The teams drew 1-1 last week in Paraguay.

Tottenham Signs Seattle's Yedlin to 4-Year Deal

Seattle Sounders and U.S. national team defender DeAndre Yedlin has signed a four-year deal with Tottenham but will remain in the United States through the remainder of the Major League Soccer season.

Both clubs announced the deal on Wednesday. Yedlin spent last weekend in London visiting with Tottenham officials and the sides were able to finalize the deal. Tottenham said Yedlin would join the club ahead of the 2015-16 season.

Artist Pleads Guilty to Smashing Ai Weiwei Vase

A Dominican-born man pleaded guilty and apologized Wednesday for destroying a valuable vase that was part of a Miami exhibition by celebrated Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.

Maximo Caminero, 51, a local artist, must pay $10,000 in restitution and was given 18 months' probation as part of a plea bargain, prosecutors said.
