Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef has been chosen to host the 2015 International Emmy Awards Gala in New York in November.
Youssef became one of the Arab world's most famous TV personalities as host of the groundbreaking TV political satire show "Al-Bernameg ("The Program"). He canceled the show last year after former army chief Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi was elected president.

An Oregon woman said Monday she intends to sue United Airlines after her flight home made an emergency landing, and authorities removed her family from the plane after she and the flight crew had problems finding her autistic 15-year-old daughter something to eat.
Donna Beegle said her daughter, Juliette, can be a picky eater and sometimes lashes out if she doesn't get what she wants, but she hopes a lawsuit would lead to training for airline employees about dealing with people who have autism. "This is about a few, simple accommodations," she said.

Britain's Mark Cavendish powered past Slovakia's Peter Sagan just before the finish line Sunday to win the first stage of the Tour of California.
Cavendish, a 25-time Tour de France stage winner, raced to his 10th victory of the season, finishing the 126.2-mile flat road race in 4 hours, 43 minutes, 27 seconds. He also won Tour of California stages in Sacramento in 2010 and last year, also on the opening day.
