LG to Put OLED First as Chinese LCD Makers Narrow Gap

South Korea's LG Display said Monday that it will change its investment priority to advanced displays called OLEDs as Chinese manufacturers quickly catch up with their South Korean rivals in the LCD market.

LG Display Co., a supplier to Apple Inc., said that over the next three years it plans to spend 10 trillion won ($8.4 billion) on future displays including OLED, flexible displays and high-end LCD screens. It did not give breakdown figures, saying the size for each type of display will hinge on market situations.

Hundreds of 'Rosie the Riveter' Attempt Record in California

Hundreds of women of all ages donned blue coveralls, red socks, and red bandannas with white polka dots and gathered near San Francisco in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for women dressed as the iconic "Rosie the Riveter," the image used to recruit female industrial workers during World War II.

The attempt was likely successful but Guinness must still review and authenticate the headcount. It will also verify all the Rosies conformed to uniform specifications, which detailed the acceptable size of the polka dots on their bandannas, the Contra Costa Times reported Sunday. U.S. Authorities: 4 Dead in Midair Collision of Small Planes

Two small planes collided midair while approaching an airport in San Diego County on Sunday, killing at least four people and sparking brush fires in a remote field where the wreckage landed, authorities said.
