Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh assured on Thursday that Lebanon enjoys monetary stability, thus appeasing concerns that it may have been affected by a political crisis that emerged following the, now-reversed resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

Salameh's remarks came during his meeting with President Michel Aoun at the Babada Palace.

Salameh has assured the President that the country's monetary situation is stable as they discussed ways of financing to push the economic wheel forward.

Hariri's resignation in November-- which he eventually revoked -- triggered fears that the new political crisis could send Lebanon's economy crashing down again.

His surprise resignation from Riyadh raised concerns of a reduced confidence in banking system and lead to a credit rating downgrade.

Analysts have also expressed concern that job creation and investor confidence in Lebanon could suffer a serious blow.
